Yeah I know, personal opinion and all that, but looking for opinions is the point!
I have a Human Elementalist, and an Asura Mesmer. I’m wanting to roll a Thief and an Engineer, and again want to use one Human and one Asura.
But I can’t decide which way to go. I think the Asura would make a great Thief (krewe espionage, etc.) but then I think back to my first time playing Quest for Glory, and think a Human Thief would be a great homage.
On the Engineer side, an Asura makes logical sense, but then the idea of a Human, denying the existence of the Gods and embracing the new “science” of Alchemy and such is also quite appealing. Also, Iron Man!
Then there’s the issue of animations. Asura seem much more kinetic, making for good Thieves, but then there’s pistol #2 and that’s just hilarious as an Engineer. Overall the Engineer has pretty lacking combat animations, which means it might be a waste on the hyper Asura. Of course, gear-wise, everything looks better on Humans, and the Thief does have more weapon options, plus an Engineer is going to be in a kit usually so weapon size isn’t as big an issue.
So I guess the question is, which race fits which profession more? Would the “mindset” of an Engineer be better on an Asura, who pride intelligence and creativity over martial strength? Would they embrace the idea of theft and burglary, or is that more of an Inquest ideology? Conversely, with Humans, the ideals of an Engineer, especially coming from their former enemies’ the Charr, may seem out of place, but humanity has always been willing to adapt new ideas for their own benefit. Of course, a Thief mentality does seem to fit quite well, especially as a graduate of the Famous Adventurers’ Correspondence School.
I hate being OCD and having alt-itis simultaneously! Anyways, thanks in advance for any input.
