Hi there,

I just started playing GW 2 and i need your help guys. I want you to help me decide on which profession to choose as main.

Some tips on what i am looking for:
a)Able to solo. I want to explore maps and play on my own pace. So i want to to be able to solo that veteran mob that will spawn in my face.
b)I like challenging “classes”. I don’t like one button smash classes (if that makes any sense).
c)Doesn’t matter if its a range or melee profession.
d)Don’t care if its a bit underpowered at pvp.
e)Don’t care if its a gear dependent “class”.

Thanks for your time, see you all in game !!!!!

It’s hard to choose one for someone else!
I can answer a couple of your points though.

a) every profession I have tried has been able to solo Veteran mobs.
c) all professions are both ranged and melee depending on the weapon you have equipped.
(d) and (e) I can’t really give any feedback on – I haven’t found any profession that seems either ‘underpowered’ or particularly gear dependant.

Enjoy playing GW2!

Hmm, another difficult one.
First off, welcome to Tyria!!
As for class, much like electricfate has pointed out, as far as my experience goes, most classes are able to go solo. I did try Elem, and that was hard, but i could survive (although it sometimes was very very scary )
Ranged and melee is for all classes availyble, but will differ from class to class as how much effective they are and also what the skills are is different for each class.
About the challenging class, they all have a certain amount off skill needed to survive. This is not your typical MMO where you stand still and push buttons to achieve victory. You have to move, dodge and time your skills to survive. Specially when a few “bigger” mobs appear or when you get swarmed by mobs (like those little spiders in the mines, soooo many and soooo deadly )

So go out there, try a few classes and see what fits you best! And above all, enjoy the game and take the time to be amazed instead off rushing to 80. This is a game off exploration and amazing, not rushing
