Help Please with the Install!
What OS are you installing it under? Are you running as Administrator? Do you have a firewall up? Do you have an anti-virus app running? Are you installing from a disc or from a digital download? Can’t really help you without more specifics… plus the customer support forum would be a better place to get responses from ArenaNet.
Sounds like User Account control to me, however, if you hit yes the installation should continue, not stop, so if it is UAC then that shouldnt be what is killing your installation.
Check your windows application event logs and see if there is anything there about GW2 installation. That will give you information that you can then use to identify the problem.
(right click my computer and select manage. On the screen that opens click the arrow next to Event viewer → arrow next to Windows Logs → then left click on application.)
Windows 7. Yes admin, Windows Firewall off, no anti-virus. When installing from disc, after it hits the 10xxxKB, it asks if I allow it to install things onto my computer, click yes, it closes that, and re-opens another that instantly closes.
With the digital downloaded client, the launcher pops up, says “Downloading 0KB (0KB/sec)” and just sits there, never going up on either numbers. The weird part, is that it’s downloading the GW2.dat, I let it sit overnight and there is a 14~ GB file there, but the GW2.exe still does the same thing. Thoughts?
I even tried transferring the install directory from my roommate’s computer, which was installed with my disc just fine, and it still doesn’t work.
You’re using AVG as your virus program, aren’t you?
Turn if off to install the game.
For a more permanent solution, do this:
1. Open the AVG user interface and press F7.
2. Expand the currently used profile (it is typed in bold) in the left configuration tree.
3. Select System services.
4. Click the Manage user system rules button.
5. Click the Add button and configure the rule as seen on the attached screenshot.
6. Click OK three times to save all changes.

Hope that helps.
ETA: No anti-virus, huh? Well, that’s weird, then.

Yeah :\ No AVG, none at all.
I’ve tried so many things…renaming files, adding -commands to shortcuts, moving from folder to folder, nothing seems to work… Trying a torrent of the fully downloaded client, maybe that will work?
