Help! Transmutation Problem
I wouldn’t mind losing my primeval skin, is there anyway I can at least transfer the ‘exotic stats’ over to another item?
From the looks of it, all transmutation stones will cause the item to be soul bound. Anyone can help me out here please?
You can transfer the skin and keep it account bound by transmuting it onto some cheap white, using the white’s stats. That should make it account bound, which would then allow you to then transmute it again onto something else with another character (that uses the armor type that the skin goes with).
I’m sure trying to transmute the stats keeps it soul bound because then you could just re-use nice armor by passing it from character to character, and I think (I could be wrong) it’s designed to prevent that.
So the skin is not lost. You paid money for it, and it is account bound. If you have a Guardian that has a skin you bought and it’s on some Exotic armor you own, and you want to put that skin on your Warrior, you … hmm, just thought of a flaw in the philosophy, I think?
Ok, starting over:
Guardian and Warrior have Exotic armor.
Guardian has skin.
You want the skin on the Warrior.
You transmute it to white, keeping white stats, bank it, and Warrior can then use it on the Exotic.
However!
You just had to throw away your Exotic on the Guardian?
Well that doesn’t seem right. I mean, I’m for not letting you put a skin on an Exotic and then just letting that be account bound so you can pass it around to other wearers of that type of armor, but to be forced to by another Exotic seems weird?
Which…is why I wish they would have gone with a system where both clothing skins and armor skins work like dyes.
You buy or use transmutation stones to ‘learn’ a look from something, but then you just know it, and can apply it to something whenever you want. I suppose if they want to make us burn a transmutation stone each time, that’s fine, but at that point the type of stone should be relative to the ‘target only’. So once I learn a skin, if I want to ‘put’ it on an 80, I gotta use a Fine, but if I want to put it on a junk white to give to my warrior, I’d use a basic, for example. At that point when the warrior gets it to transmute it, the warrior would then ‘learn’ it (any source used in a transmutation is ‘learned’ so you don’t have to go find a source each time).
Something like that.
That doesn’t help you, but yes, you can preserve the skin and keep it ‘account bound’ by effectively killing the exotic, and forcing you to get a new exotic piece.
Thanks for your reply.
Argh, that just sucks. Think I’ll lay off playing for some time. I just hope that they can apply a similiar thing with transmutated items as with the exotics. Like make the transmutated item account bound, but soulbound upon equip. That would cure alot of hassles for the players and confusion too. It woulnd’t hurt the economy in anyway as players can only swap their gear between alts, I don’t think we’re asking too much for such a feature to be put in place.
But anyway thanks for your feedback, I’ll just probably let my guardian collect dust for now. Totally lost motivation to play after losing a good 18g+ so easily.
