I recently bought two of this Invaders ring from the armor vendor in WvW, each ring cost around 354 badges of honor. It is an Exotic Ring with an unused upgrade slot and so i thought i’d put an Exquisite Opal Jewel (which is also exotic) into the slot, but it doesn’t work! both of the rings do not lighten up in a blue-ish color whenever i try to use the jewels unlike my Opal earrings, same thing happens with the other versions of Opal jewels (i’ve only used Opals so far). Is this some kind of a bug? or am i missing something. I need help if there is actually something i can put in those slots instead of Opal Jewels.

I’m pretty sure ‘Exquisite’ jewels can only be used in accessories, amulets, and rings. They do not work in armor.

As a matter of fact, after searching the wiki, any jewels can’t be used as an upgrade componen for armor/weapons. Gemstones can however.

You must have misread OP. Problem exists with his Exotic Invader’s Ring, not Armor …

Double click the jewel from the hero panel and then click the ring, don’t drag and drop.

I know this is a silly question, but is the ring level 80? Orbs and exquisite jewels can only be used in level 80 gear. I found this out the hard way when I found a level 78 medium armor zerker exotic, put it on my thief, and then tried to slot a ruby orb in it. Didn’t go so well.

Hmm, recently checked the Badge of Honer vendors, and i recall all Invader armor and weapons r lvl60.

Just checked, evrything is lvl60, and the Invader Ring is even lvl51
I noticed now all these items all have 2 stats instead of 3 stats.
Hmm, wanted to add screenshot but the item info pop up doesnt show on the screenshot.

So, that means u can only put an upgrade in that ring that has a lvl51 or less requirement. It sucks :-(

it sounds like you might have gotten the ring from the wrong armor vendor. There are two by the WvW laurel vendor. The one directly across the firepit from the Laurel Merchant should be the one offering level 80 armor and rings. The catch is that the level 80 WvW armor requires both Badges and coin.

The ring you have will likely take an upgrade, but it will only take (if I recall) an Opal orb or whatever the orb/shard that can be slotted into a level 50 ring is (as DEKeyz mentioned, the exquisite jewels can only be used on level 80 accessories/rings).

In my above post i checked the merchants/vendors with a lvl55 char.
After reading Meow Ren’s post I decided to try again with a lvl80 char.
I was now offfered lvl80 items. And indeed they cost both coin and badges.
