So basically, I started playing GW2 back when it first launched, but I quit due to various reasons. Well, I got hacked a couple years back, and when I got my account back, the hacker leveled me to level 80 (lucky me). So now that i’m coming back, I have no clue what to do. What do you do after you get to 80? I’ve read up on stuff like you have to get exoctic armor or whatnot. and you get that from getting tokens from doing dungeons right? Okay, so say I did that, and I got enough tokens and I got exotic armor (also, is exotic armor = elite armor from gw1?) what would I do then? What else is there to do? Do you just improve your AP-score or whatnot? Thanks!

It’s hard to compare GW1 and GW2 armor directly because there’s a lot of little changes between the two. But level 80 exotics are basically the best you can get in terms of stats. There’s a number of ways you can get it, some easier than others depending on what you’ve done so far.

I’d say crafted (or purchased from the TP) exotics and those bought with karma from temples in Orr and WvW vendors with badges are the equivalent of top-tier non-elite GW1 armor (like the stuff you get from Drok’s Forge, Kaineng or Consulate Docks – it’s got the best stats and it’s relatively easy to get, but you’ve only got a limited choice of skins.

Dungeon armor is like elite armor – the stats are exactly the same as the other exotic sets, but each dungeon has a unique skin which you can’t get anywhere else (except that dungeons PvP reward track). There’s a few other sets too like the Order and cultural skins.

But it’s really a question of getting a set of exotics with the stat combination you want through whatever method is easiest for you and then choosing skins you like to apply to them.

(There’s also ascended armor and weapons, which have slightly higher stats but are also a lot more expensive and difficult to obtain. Many people don’t bother with them or get them gradually over time as a long-term goal.)

As for what to do after that? Anything you want. At level 80 the game becomes much more open, there is nothing you absolutely have to do but a lot of things you can do. For example:

• Finish your personal story and do the living story
• Explore all the PvE maps
• Complete dungeon paths
• Play PvP
• Play WvW
• Make a legendary weapon
• Collect other items that interest you, like skins, mini pets, the actual collection achievements
• Work on achievements, either ones that interest you or ones that get you points (these also reward unique weapon and armor skins)
• Probably other stuff I’ve forgotten

Since someone else leveled you to 80, maybe you should start a new character and level one yourself. You know, do all the map exploration and all that stuff that goes with leveling a character.

uh well first of all make sure your account is absolutely safe, I would delete that character who knows what that hacker was using it for. Make sure you did a comprehensive scan on your computer and change all your passwords if your computer is clean, and not just gw, other websites you might be registered on. Level a new toon, gear it up. You can get exotic armor from different sources: Dungeon Tokens, rare drops, Karma, badges of honor + gold, craft, buy on tp, pvp tracks, etc. No exotic is not the same as elite in gw1. Exotic is the 2nd highest in terms of stats/strength for gear right below ascended, but exotic is perfectly fine unless you do a lot of fractals. There wvw, pvp, pve-living story, dungeons, fractals, leveling etc etc

Gear is not that important unless you run with hardcore dungeon or WvW players. A cheap set of exotic gear will be fine for all the other stuff you can do at level 80.

If the account is secure there is no need to delete the character.

OP was unclear on whether or not the character was his or not.

If hacker made it, it would be a good mule until he needed the spot for something else.

I supposed it would be a good mule, but (for me) would probably not match my aesthetics. Lol.

Which likely means he made the character. So it’s got a decent name and not a series of random letters.

What aesthetics would he not be able to change due to the hacker? He may have to go to lower areas to earn enough money to gear up if they drained his bank and sold his gear off.

But beyond that, I can’t think of anything permanent that would be so bad that I would have to delete a character I made simply because a hacker touched it.
