Hi,

So I have played a Mesmer, an Elementalist, and a thief so far, but didn’t play any of these for too long (sub level 30). Out of these, I enjoyed the Elementalist the most. I am now restarting the game with a bunch of real life friends and wanted to know about the abilities of the professions in these three categories: damage, survival, difficulty.

I am primarily looking at warrior, necromancer, and elementalist but I can try a different profession depending on the answer(s) to above.

If anyone can provide their views/opinions regarding the same, and preferably also point out a good guide (something that explains gameplay style as well other than the build itself would be awesome), it would be highly helpful.

Thanks

You can still play on your ele and help them out till they catch up to you. As far as difficulty ele and engineer are hardest to master in my opinion. Necromancer was pretty easy overall however is considered a selfish class I actually found it the most dull at level 80. Warrior is the easiest class in the game really and does very high damage. Which in my opinion makes no challenge and takes the fun out.

If you plan on mostly open world pve with your friends I’d suggest a sword warhotn ranger with long bow for bosses and champions or engineer. Ranger actually does do pretty good damage and I found the pet very helpful. Others will say the pet is a pain I personally never had an issue. Also keep in mind levels 30 to 40 are very very boring. This is the case with alot of people. Generally on weekdays I do pve then on weekends do wvw for faster leveling.

The great thing about gw2 is that you can play you higher level characters alongside lowbies without it being a complete carry for them. So if you liked your Ele you don’t have to start over. Just play with them until they’ve caught up.
