Help me choose a Profession
I Love, Casting/Ranged style over Melee style combat.
Ranger
I love AOE,DOT style over direct mass damage.
AOE is elementalist. DoT would be either elementalist or Necromancer
I like to buff and support my group members.
Elementalist or Guardian
I like a Tank Pet/s
Ranger. Elementalist have two, but only 1 of them is really that tanky, and tbh even then not really.
I dislike DYING 100 times in a row to complete a quest
Any class can do this just fine
Having a low HP pool,
Avoid Elemenalist or Thief.
complicated class that requires extensive hard to understand rotations and builds.
Avoid Elementalist
I dont really know what to tell you. Elementalists cover pretty much all your likes and dislikes at the same time.
I think you might be leaning more towards Ranger or Necromancer based on your other Specifications. I would suggest maybe trying a ranger who uses a shortbow/longbow as a primary damage weapon, then perhaps an Axe+warhorn as a secondary (axes are ranged, and the warhorn lets you buff allies) The ranger shortbow also lets you stack bleed and poison on targets, so that might fit into your DoT specifications.
If you dont mind having a low hp pool/complicated class, Elementalist fits all the other bills
longrange, lots of AOE’s, plenty of DOT’s (bleeds and burns out thekitten and an entire attunement dedicated to supporting teammates (water) not to mention they have a variety of combo fields and ways to trigger their own combo’s, which allows you to quickly stack up boons (buffs) for your party. The only concern is that they have the lowest base health in the game, and 20 skills, each with their own internal cooldowns, and a global cooldowns per 5 skills based on which attunement you’re swapping into, making them probably the most complicated class besides perhaps mesmer.
Mesmer and Necromancer have:
- casting
- range
- AoE
- Damage over time
- able to buff and support
- (mesmer) illusions can act tanky
- don’t die easily (pve)
- don’t have low hp
- skill usage CAN be complicated if you want it to be, but it can also be simple
I think both mesmer and necromancer would be good for you. Necromancer is a lot more simple and might have more DoT.

I bet you’d like necromancer.

Didnt get as many responsed as I thought I would here. I played the Ranger for about 25 levels and its a good class but im not getting the thrill as I usually do on a mage style magic caster. I have decided to go with the Necromancer. I think I will like best the Scepter/Dagger and the Staff as weapons but im CLUELESS on the actual build. Any pointers anyone?

Good luck!
Elementalists have better survivability than some people realize. Trait well into water and earth, and you don’t do too badly… though it is a pretty complex playstyle. Gotta keep switching elements. Gotta pick your weapon set depending on what role you’re wanting to fill.
cant go wrong with warrior: most health, heavy armor, most weapon variety
My primary alt is a scepter/dagger and staff necromancer. I’m not that far along in levels and still working with my traits, but I can say that those weapons tend toward DoT with bleeds, poison, etc. You’d probably want to stack condition damage primarily, and if you’re having trouble surviving, toughness and/or vitality,
Overall, though, remember that there’s no one correct build. It doesn’t cost much to refund traits, and nothing at all to change major traits (which can be done any time). Don’t be afraid to experiment.
