Help me make a pure healer
The obvious choice would be to go elementalist, use a staff, and spec into water magic.
- Water Staff Elementalist
Example Water Ele Spec : http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fEAQFAWhEmkblR4gjDAkHvYSJjCiUeMzO2A
How to Play it: Swap between attunements often and use your blast finishers to proc your Water Fields for mass AOE healing. Dodge roll to cleanse, heal or to have a free blast finisher to proc in your Water Fields. A tip is to use your #5 in Water and then immediately switch to Earth and use your #2 to proc a Blast Finisher in your Water Field. Your Earth Attunement gives protection, in addition you have an AOE reflect that can be applied to your group that also gives protection. You also have a lot of crowd controls, which also benefits your team.
- Guardian
Example Spec : http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fUAQNAS5elcgqC3FSLEm4ES2DRCBTQsHa0HtRXFcIA
(note: You can pretty much use whatever weapon you want except for Scepter, since it’s not a Support weapon. I carry all of the weapons in my bag because they all have a purpose and place. Greatsword #5 is great for pulling in enemies for your group to AOE them but it doesn’t have much else support-wise. Staff is great for #4’s might and healing AOE, Mace/Shield or Mace/Focus is good for general healing/supporting but it’s melee range. Hammer is great for almost 100% uptime on Protection and #2 being a short CD blast finisher)
How to Play it: Tank things with your face.
For both professions, you want to stack Boon Duration and Healing Power.

Yep very consistent heals. Add in a glyph of renewal utility trait and dwayna runes and you have a decent semblance of a traditional healer.
alts: Fangyre (Necro), Hardrawk (Ele);
Jade Quarry

FYI, You posted the ele link twice……no link the gaurdian build.
Looks interesting…I only played fire so far and still level 20 so I got to experiment…
Thanks
My engineer has some very nice healing support too, though it’s quite active, especially in taking advantage of cripple and pulls/immobs to keep your team safe.
Remember condition removal is important too.
I have NO experience with this build, but being a Necromancer, theres many traits and aspects of the class that could make it a very good group healer. I felt like making a build, so I did.
Here is the example build: http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fQEQNAW3djQad6haSb07JApCPP9o7tHn6R5sjOA;TEBg2yrEWJtSdlyKKvMeJ8y6lzLpXrNGbcaY3wbDA
Staff is your primary weapon, with sigil of water for obvious reasons. Also, staff builds life force quickly, transfers conditions to allies, and provides regen to allies, as well as supplying condition damage and fear support. Axe/Focus is there just as a backup, focus does provide regen though. I picked Monk runes for healing power and access to group aegis on elite usage. Flesh golem is on a minute cooldown, and in addition using its charge attack counts as an elite skill, so you have group aegis on a 40 second cooldown as long as it stays alive. Apothecary stats for healing/toughness/condition
Traits
Death Magic II – Greater Marks – makes your staff marks bigger so more allies get hit by them, as well as makes sure enemies are affected. Necessary for any staff build.
Blood Magic VI – Transfusion – Life Transfer heals nearby allies, for aoe healing.
Blood Magic IX – Deathly Invigoration – Heal in an Area when you leave Death Shroud, for aoe heals.
Blood Magic VIII – Ritual Mastery – Wells have 20% cooldown reduction. Build uses 3 wells
Soul Reaping III – Path of Midnight, reduces cooldown of death shroud abilities. Basically for Life Transfer reduction to use its heal more often.
Soul Reaping X – Soul Marks – causes staff marks to generate 3% Life Force per hit. This will help build Life Force even faster, which you need for Death Shroud.
Soul Reaping XII – Near to Death – reduced death shroud cooldown to 5 seconds, so you can pop in and out every 5 seconds for aoe heals from Blood Magic IX – Deathly Invigoration.
Minor traits are all very nice for personal survivability and life force generation as well
Use Well of Blood for aoe heals (very good healing power coefficients), Well of Power as condition removal and boon application, Well of Darkness to provide aoe blinds to minimize pressure, Signet of Undeath for passive LF gain and active 2-second cast time aoe resurrection.
Playstyle is to stay close to melee and provide support and heals via regen, area heals, aegis, condition removal, and aoe blind, and pop in and out of death shroud frequently, using Life Transfer whenever possible.
Just to change things from classic Ele/Guardian healers, give this a try if you are bored.
EDIT: Correcting armor prefix, I used the wrong one.

No matter how hard you want to try and whatever you do…this in the end is impossible
Mesmer, inspiration line, with the signet can give full set (apart from stability) boons to whole party. Take mantra of pain a the right trait. You can now heal while dps’ing (average) while also supplying massive amounts of boons.
Enjoy.

Elementalist full Clerics hands down, combine runes of monk/dwayna I believe 3/3 gives you both +90?
Anyway, Elementalist water spec is the best healer out there… not really sure if d/d or staff but both can pop a lot of heals.
Staff ele and make sure ever one on your team has a burst combo finisher. You will fall into a healer and a healer enabler. Burst combo in a water filed is an aoe heal you will have to do a bit of coronation with your team but 3-5 burst combo in water should be a full heal for every one on your team. At the same time you can put up ice fields fire and lighting all that are great for support burst.
Keep this in mind true support in GW2 is not from one person its from ppl truly working together its not WoW like game where you just happen to have ppl working beside each other but TRUE team work that you need to talk to others to make work.
Guild : OBEY (The Legacy) I call it Obay , TLC (WvW) , UNIV (other)

I have a friend who doesn’t play GW2 because she loves being a dedicated healer (was in GW & WoW). She hated the idea of a healer Pally a la WoW (despite Guardians totally not being like that).
I’ll have to let her know that Eles can be quite effective as healers, despite no profession being able to be true 100% healers. Also, the necro design that Brannidus mentioned was something I had played with a bit. Seems that party healing is generally done as an aoe skill, combo, or boon spreading.

Shaman stats for condition/healing/toughness.
Shaman has Vitality as main stat with Healing Power and Condition Damage as minor
Apothecary has Healing Power as main stat with Toughtness and Condition Damage as minor
As for the whole healer thing … nothing wrong with specing into healing but if healing is the only thing you are doing then you are not contributing all that you can to the fight. I don’t even see how that is possible without standing around doing nothing.
Maybe ‘healer’ is just the wrong word for the job, too much baggage attached and it only describes a single aspect of the many things the character should be doing.
No matter how hard you want to try and whatever you do…this in the end is impossible
I agree. Even if you are a pure healing build. You are going to gimp your team by not doing damage. Thus…
Take longer to kill mobs > Team takes more damage > You having to heal more. Skills are on CD. I can guarantee that you will not have enough time to play a “pure healing” build. and I can guarantee that if you tell any “knowledgeable group” that you are pure healing, they will not want you in the group. Or at least I know I wouldn’t.

So the OP want’s to completely GIMP himself in combat?
This makes no sense!
Go read my guide in GW2 Combat system 101… Seriously.
You’ll need to learn the basics OP.
Human Engineer might be a contender. I have no experience so I can’t say how STRONG the heals are, but there are lots of them there.
There’s a trait so bomb explosions heal allies and the bomb kit’s auto attack is… a bomb… as well as a 5pt trait passive to make a bomb when you dodge.
The human racial skills all put ranged ground target AoE’s on your toolbelt with support actions. Heal, cleanse, and grant random boon to allies/condition to foes.
Plus your usual support options. Elixer gun and elixers.
