Help me stop rolling, can't walk straight
Open up your Game Menu and under General Options look for “Double Tap to Evade”. Turn it off. Does that help?
Check to see what your dodge key binding is under Control Options, as well, just in case.
Might be as well a software problem; “brand new” computers tend to have a lot of bloatware with dubious functionality, and I won’t be surprised if some of it “improved” your keyboard experience.
I realize I just posted this in the wrong spot. Will re-write into Players helping players. Sorry!
Or just ask a mod to move this topic instead of making a new one.
Sigh. I tried just outright disabling the Strafe Left, Strafe Right, and Dodge commands and no change. She just friggin rolls every time I touch “W”. -.-

LMAO—-Seriously doubt this is the problem.
It sounds like you have some software that is making the keyboard send in too many inputs.
The game Gw2 is not responsible for the double dodging. There is nothing in Gw2’s code that is making this happen. It is your keyboard and or software that is telling the game to double dodge.
Start looking through the computers software. Use Google. Figure it out.

Seriously guess this is the problem. If you’re not putting in too many inputs via the keyboard Gw2 would not be dodging………period fullstop end of the story.
There is no reason Gw2 would decide to double dodge on this one persons computer. What is more likely is that he has some type of built in macro on the keyboard that makes multiple inputs per button push.
A noob owning a computer full of bloatware is 1000x’s more possible than the Gw2 code having anything to do with this.
How many computers have you built? Personally I’ve built about 2 a year for well over 10 years now.

Did you try unchecking “Double Tap to Evade”?

Best advice. You don’t need double tap at all to play this game. Keybind your dodge to something on your mouse, you’ll never go back.

Right on the money there, I only buy Microsoft OEM computer or build them myself. Those manufacturers score licensing deals to pre install bloatware on your computer to cut costs.
Check your drivers, what kind of keyboard is it?

Really? Whoopie doo doo! I have built many, for myself as well as many friends. More than I can remember. Just finished a new one for me a few weeks ago. But I obviously don’t need to BRAG about it and call someone out because they think they are a tech god like yourself. Not only that I was tech support at work for 20 odds years and have been through many advances and changes. I have also helped purchased and configure many laptops, as well as cleaned them up. Just finished one last weekend for my in laws.
No need for issuing a rude challenge.

Doesn’t mean the bloatware is the source of the problem. Or a bunch more players would have this issue as I highly doubt most GW2 players have computers that are not bought pre-built.
@Floacious: How old is the keyboard you’re using? If it’s old, how clean is it? Could you have something under your W key that’s overlapping into the Q and E keys causing it? Had the keyboard ever gotten wet?
Open a word pad file or Notepad or Word or other such program and hit the W key several times or just hold it down like you would in game. See what happens.
Check to see if your “V” key is stuck.
