Q:

Hello, I have played gw2 couple days and bought the expansion and boosted a warrior. Im looking to build similar to Vaanss (Zerk gear). I have taken notice I can get exotic berserker gear with the gear currency from the jungle frogs. But Im kinda overwhelmed by all the info I read so far so I decided to ask you guys.

What should be my next step after exotic armor from frogs? (I got weapons)

Should I buy exotic zerk accessory costs like 5g piece, seems cheap to me?

And what Im supposed to do with my money anyway? Most gear/runes seems to come for “free” from little pve/pvp play.

And is ascended crafting gear only? (need to level all crafters to max and get mats kind of kitten?)

Thanx all.

Rather than reinventing the wheel, I’ll link you to a rather in-depth overview for gear: https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/User:Tanetris/So_You_Want_To_Gear_a_Character

I know that’s just throwing more information your way, so my apologies, but I think the above can answer some of your questions concerning accessories and progression.

Some ascended gear you can get as rewards for events or achievements.

Most professions receive exotic soldier’s gear with their L80 boost. It provides extra survivability for players unfamiliar with the game and profession mechanics. That equipment is also very good for World vs World.

In PvE, berserker gear has the most damage burst potential. However, you can also set your toon up for condition damage, though the variety of builds become more limited. Try buying exotic armor for both, berserker first, and practicing how to play them to maximum effect.

Take your time.

Ascended armor is very expensive and time consuming to earn for a tiny performance boost.

For a while, I recommend going through maps and completing them. Do your personal story, too. You will get transmutation charges, Black Lion chest keys, materials for crafting and progression toward world completion, which you will eventually want for a legendary weapon.

Collect everything everywhere you go. Try crafting. Use consumables. (You can make those, too.)

Start a character from L1 and compare that to your boosted one.

It is a long road but the developers designed the game with ‘do everything’ in mind and will reward you for it.

This guide is really good & comprehensive. There’s even a sort of too-long-didn’t-read bit near the start. Read the intro; take a glance at the rest; and follow up here with any questions you have about it.

Hello thanks for all the answers, this site however does not show me what to do with gold.. So gold is only to buy gems? :O To buy cosmetics.

You can use Gold to exchange for Gems, or to buy anything you desire off the Trading Post.

One great resource, for all things Guild Wars 2, is the Wiki; accessible via the link above, or in-game by typing /Wiki (topic of choice) in the chat window.

Welcome to Tyria, and good luck.

Judging from your original post, I’d say hoard your gold because trying to max out ALL crafting professions will suck your wallet dry (in-game not irl) with either buying recipes and mats. I suggest leveling up maybe one or two crafting professions (preferably ones that pertain to your class) to get a feel for what crafting is like, how much time, effort and gold you need to devote to it.

Other than that, everyone has already touched base on your other concerns I think. Take care and welcome to Tyria!
