Help with Inventory Bag Order
Items fill the bags from top to bottom and from left to right. If your bag that gathers, say, green items gets full, said item goes to the next free slot from top to bottom. What I personnaly do is that I put my Safe bags on the top and fill them with the equipment I’m not intending to sell (weapon\armor sets, fod\potions, jewelry or tonics etc.) then I place common bags for general loot and end it with rarity specific bags for the ease of salvaging.
In contrast, I put my “safe bags” on the bottom, so that they don’t have to be filled in order to serve their purpose. The top of the bags fill up first and are what I use to vendor and TP; any “extra” space in protected bags fills up last.
However, I pretty much just use “safe” bags and generics; I don’t much like having my inventory sorted for me. Instead, I use the text filters to find rares and masterwork, move them to my bank (which always starts with at least 60 free slots) and wait until I have time to manage TP, salvage, and mystic forging (all done by a dedicated character). This way, I spend most of my time playing the game and can “assembly line” my inventory management at my leisure, when no one is waiting for me to start the next dungeon path or whatever.
I used to try playing the specialty bag game, but anymore, I generally stick with an invisible/safe bag at the bottom, and the rest are normal bags.
Once in a while, I’ll take a junk bag, since those things can accumulate over time, where as most of the rest I can generally salvage/deposit/tp away.
Crafting bags sound nifty, but I hit “Deposit All Materials; Compact” so instinctively, that I never even see them. But then it can get clogged up with runes and sigils, which you don’t see, since you minimized the bag, etc….
I tried out the fractal boxes, (well, the masterwork ones, not the rare ones), and I found that I just really didn’t care about white vs blue vs green. They all get fed to my good friend Mr Copper Fed Salvage ‘o’ Matic. (which, btw, it the single best inventory management investment you can make)
Rares and exotics… I just don’t get enough to dedicate a box for them. Most rares are either TP’s or fed to Mystic Salvage kits.
I’ve tried many different methods, and here’s what I have found.
Those fractal bags, while cheap, are annoying with bag sorting.
You also have a whole lot of storage that ignores the functionality of how your inventory works.
I go with:
20 starter
20 bag (no sorting)
20 bag (no sorting)
20 invisible
keep all my important stuff (weapons, consumables) at the bottom, harvesting tools and salvage kits at the top, and everything in between just lands as I get it. Nothing gets sorted, and I never hit Compact anymore. with the salvage highlighting option it just takes a moment to salvage everything you can, do a deposit materials, then merch the runes/sigils/junk left over.
since you have so many safe boxes and uncommon boxes you are kind of working against yourself. you only have 20 slots for anything that is junk or common rarity, and when that runs out your bags are either giving up their exclusive spots or filling up your protected inventory. The only things that will sort into your fractal boxes are weapons and armor, and the occasional rare sigil or material. otherwise all your salvage and junk drops are taking over your inventory and it all becomes totally scattered.
