I want a light armor class with high burst, so I can feel like I do tons of damage.

What should I be??

edit: this class is not for everyone. With 4 attunements , it takes a while to learn and even longer to master

In terms of relative viability, a fully berserker geared and spec’d shatter mesmer has the highest burst I think. (phantasm damage+mind wrack+confusion from shattered/killed illusions). But the relatively long cooldown is meh.

Elementalist bar none for scholar professions. But you will have to play the keyboard like a piano if you want to get 100% out of the class.
And after you master an elementalist, you won’t be able to play anything else. :p

Mesmer has the highest potential burst damage of scholar professions but it isn’t easy to pull off. The elementalist has the best easy-to-achieve bursts. Other than that, a D/D power necro is very high burst as well. So even on a traditionally low burst profession, you can achieve significant damage bursts. But the BEST burst damage is the thief’s because it can not be avoided from stealth. A backstab thief is the burst damage king (I think).

Memser with some form of shatter+phantasm spec. Massive burst.

Mesmer beats the ele in burst hands down,however the ele has bigger aoe potential.

Mesmer is good when the planets align in a shatter build, but ele will have you singing great balls of fire. Light it up!

Mesmer is the best scholar burst.

Full glass cannon Ele Ive had the 3 button S/D fire combo hit for 22k, that should down most people.

Tooth (6k) + Pheonix (5k) + Grab (11k)

Mesmer probably has the edge on burst if it’s only burst damage you’re looking at.

But Elementalists with their AoE have far more ways to deal and control damage.

If burst means the amount of damage you can do in an instant, the Mesmer is best.

If you’re one of those weirdos that considers a 16 button combo carried out over 10+ seconds to be a burst, then the Elementalist.

if each 16 button press is a littel dmg as you press them then no it is not burst, if however each 16 presses in some way enhances the dmg of the 1-3 skills max you pull at the end then yes it is burst. a burst is how much dmg in a low time frame come, but dont ahve to be instant delivered, biggest burst usually always conbines several skill activations that add together to boost one or two skills at the end
