Unfortunately, I’ve already bought one, not realizing I could only get 8-10 candy pieces per use. Will it really take more than a year of daily harvesting to pay back my five cobs, or am I missing something?
A:
No, you are not missing anything. It will take a long time for a candy corn node to pay for itself if you purchased it for 5 cobs.
The one thing that some people do is to open their home instance to others to farm in exchange for tips which can help generate more income to help replenish the cost of a home node. However, it is generally expected that the person would have all or most of the home instance nodes if they are opening it up for others to farm for tips otherwise it is kind of a waste of time for everyone involved.

I love my candy corn node in my home. I was almost able to buy a new halloween pail (20 slot inventory bag for 3000 corn or 3 cobs) right when the halloween event started.
you can always use a friends home instance that got the node
You get about 9 a day from them. The choice is yours.
They also count towards the daily mining if you use your home instance for that.
