Q:

Hey folks,

How close to a dungeon’s entrance do I need to be to receive the window that says that my party is entering a dungeon? Can I be anywhere in that dungeon’s zone to accept and immediately enter the dungeon? Or do I need to be really close to the dungeon entrance?

Depends. In most cases, being in the zone of the dungeon will spawn the popup. If you exit it, or in rare cases, you have to walk up to the entrance.

Most times it’s simply “in the zone”
This has held true for every dungeon ive done numerous times, EXCEPT Honor of the waves. Which has required each member to be next to the door.

As for longest distance i’ve tested thoroughly: you can enter arah from the first waypoint in cursed shore. Which I only know because it’s the only waypoint not contested from an overflow. Many a time i’ve ported down there to see the popup come onscreen.
