I don’t know if this is the best method. All I know is that it is what I did. I wrote this out to help out the next guy since I won’t be doing all that TP buying and salvaging anymore.
Convenience Items:
Copper Salvage o’ Matic
Bag Slot Expansions
Artificer (for essences of luck)
100g initial investment
This is how I got to 300% Magic Find. I also ended up with much more gold from selling the salvage items.
First, you need to know what items to salvage. You would want Tier 2 salvage items (Levels 21-39), Tier 3 salvage items (Levels 40-53), and Tier 4 salvage items (Levels 54-62).
Now, if you’re dumb like me and you don’t want to think too much, then the max you would want to bid for Blue items is 80 copper and 1 silver 20 copper for Green items.
If you like thinking and want to push the limit, then know that gloves give 1.5 salvage items, chest armors give you 3 salvage items, and other armors give 2 salvage items. Now, consider the item price < [ # of salvage ] * [ price of salvage ] * .85 from Trading Post fees. From there you can decide if it is a profit.
If you would like the list of Blue items: http://www.gw2spidy.com/type/0/-1/9?rarity_filter=2&min_level=21&max_level=62&sort_max_offer_unit_price=asc
If you would like the list of Green items: http://www.gw2spidy.com/type/0/-1/8?rarity_filter=3&min_level=21&max_level=62&sort_max_offer_unit_price=asc
Tip 1: On your inventory window, click the gear on the upper right. Then click “Hide Bags”.
Tip 2: Stretch your inventory window to a comfortable size.
Tip 3: Most people salvage right to left, or left to right, or up to down, etc. Myself, after salvaging thousands of items, I found I am able to salvage more accurately with fewer misclicks if I do the following process. Salvaging in a snake-like pattern. For example, I have 2 rows of items to salvage. I would salvage the top-left item, then bottom-left, then bottom-right, then top-right. I would continue this pattern until the two rows salvaged the move on to another two rows.
Tip 4: There is a player who will outbid you several times. Placing several bids (out-bidding themself) going 1 copper (or more) several times above your original bid. This was their strategy to try to overwhelm a player into thinking this item dramatically increased in price and so are tempted to remove their bid (or give up.) Do not be deceived.
Tip 5: Check the TP twice a day to check your number of orders in “My Transactions” and then “Buying”. Remember that you can organize your orders from fewest to most. So you can find the orders that you need to add quantity to easily.
Tip 6: Once a day, organize your “Buying” orders by price and click each item to see if you were out-bid. Then raise the price by 1 copper. Having the prices in decending order will allow you remember your place (by the amount) to pick up from the same spot later if you need to do something.
Tip 7: I would order 222 of an item because certain items sell very fast. A problem with my system is if all your orders are bought, it is difficult to know it and order more.
Tip 8: When you hover your cursor over the Magic Find % total, be aware that it includes two types of magic find. Magic find from Luck and magic find from achievements. Make sure your “From Luck” is at 300.
Trivia: I have completed Agent of Entropy 1,323 times.
Trivia 2: You need 4, 295, 450 luck to get 300%MF. That means 85 stacks of exotic essences of luck.
