Basically she says she is afraid to run CM because people will yell at her if she performs badly. I ran in CM my first time, and died like, 7 times, nobody yelled or anything, we basically thought “Wow, this is a lot harder than we expected” and kept pushing til we completed it. Were you scared the first time you ran through a dungeon?

I have this feeling a lot, and often hesitate to run dungeons with a pick-up group because I’m worried that I’ll be the only one who sucks and they’ll hate on me or, even if they don’t, I’ll feel bad!

The best thing in my opinion is to a) tell your group that it’s your first time and you’re not totally sure what to expect, and b) talk with your group a little before you start. You can usually get hints beforehand if they’re super-hardcore, impatient or likely to turn mean. Most people are nice, though, and those with experience will help you through.

So tell your friend to just be upfront about it, and any group that has a problem with a newbie can say so. Any group that doesn’t – which will be most groups – will be supportive on the way!

I say find some like minded people to run it.

If you need any help hop over to Operation: Union, there’s always people willing to help! Just ask for some help there, their ideals are to help others without fear of discrimination or subject to any sort of leetism.

Lots of people either on the EU or NA flipside. Why not ask over there?

The Union is always happy to help people who are new (it’s what we’re here for!) and we never yell at people in dungeons.

First runs are always painful and frustrating and people die like flies, that’s OK. I’m always intimidated to do a new dungeon, but I just have to remember that it’s fine to be new. Making sure the party knows you’re new is a good thing, most people are willing to help a new player, but some aren’t so good to get that out upfront. Avoid anyone saying ‘speed clear’, ‘quick’, all 3 paths, etc. Those people are going to want to be quick and have experienced party members.

LFG <dungeon name> Path <x> Challenge runs – no armor.

If that doesn’t get you a team, start adding pieces to the list – helmet, gloves, boots, trinkets, etc until you have a full team and have fun in a dungeon. It doesn’t always have to be about grinding and making the most gold/hr.
