How come there are so few active skills?
If you pvp or even play this game with 1 hand i assume you die alot.
Bah! Or just try to go in lvl 80 maps and get back on this thread. Then tell us if you can play with 1 hand…
Umm he got a mouse with ~20 buttons on it so of cause he can do it one handed as long as he can move his fingers fast enough.

i suggest you read my post couple more times

Because if you look at most of the guild wars skills they do at least 2 things. some of them do 3-4. so your 5 buttons in GW are really between 10-20 skills. SWTOR was really bad about this. Useless skill bloat, with a use so specific you had to have it on your bar but you only used it once ever day.

If you take the time to study the traits page in your Hero Window and how those traits compliment certain combinations of skills – you will see that the few skills given are all you need.
Go to the mists and play with the free pvp armor, weapons, and items (jewelry) vendors; combining that with trait options you can change as many times as you wish in the mists; and also combining with skill options that can be changed (played with) as many times as you like in the mists.
It’s like a puzzle, play with it until your toon is the fighter you want him/her to be.
Personally I prefer this new system. I don’t have to set up complicated macros. I can set my character up and go. I can even play my toon @ level 80 in the mists to get a feel for him/her right after creation. If I don’t like it, I can change it (for free!)
I think that GW2 has just the right number of skills, frankly. I’ve been used to wow, that has upwards of 30 skills I need to keep track of, and it becomes arduous to say the least.
Don’t be fooled into thinking fewer abilities does not translate into less skill. If you spam all your buttons at once, you’re probably gonna die. You have to know exactly when to hit the right skill, because if you hit the wrong one, there isn’t a ‘backup’ skill waiting.
should stay out of the way of those doing it”

Coming from other MMOs other than GW1 I can say it took me a bit to get used to this as well. GW2 focuses much more on skill selection, proper timing and combinations for success rather than a bazillion skills.
It’s different and feels a lot more “consoley” but I’m having fun with it so far.
