Hi all I’m new to the game and was wondering how to go about choosing a realm in US servers? Are they all the same pretty much? Any tips would be useful. Just looking for a place where people are helpful given I’m new.

GW2 uses what they call mega servers. This means that players from all servers in the same region, either NA or EU, play together on merged PvE maps. The only thing that really matters for server aside from region is WvW where players are locked into playing on the server they selected for their account (although you can pay for a sever transfer later if you don’t like the server you are on for WvW). You can view a list of servers and where they rank in WvW following the leaderboard link under the “Community” link at the top of the page. Please note that many of the top severs in WvW are often full but if you are interested in playing WvW this might help you make a decision.
