So I tried to start pvp today but couldn’t. I want to do little 1 on 1 battles but no map/server whatever supported that. I didn’t want to go into pvp brand new and get kittened at for dying all the time while I try to learn the mechanics.
I couldn’t even figure out how to enter spectator mode or start my own map/server.
How are you suppose to do all this stuff.

Wvw behind windmill is the dual spot or ask guildies to go to a empty spvp server and dual there

JPSnow (main) – Necro, Sir Mezalot – Mesmer
Lieutenant Stabs – Thief

You may or may not find this helpful: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Pvp

If you enter the Mists, there are many NPCs that teach you about different aspects of PvP.

Best of luck to you. =)

He’s talking about an informal “Fight Club” in WvW. But those are more advanced PvPers who like to test their skill against experienced opponents. Look around the PvP starting area, there are NPC’s that you can duel against. Also you can join PvP lobbies with less people in them if you don’t want to go into a full-on match. Also it doesn’t hurt to just try out a normal PvP match. Most of the really competitive people will be playing tournaments, so you won’t have to deal with them. I’ve got a friend who jumped into PvP at your level, or even sooner, and he has taught himself a lot. He also likes to look up build guides and tutorials online. It’s a lot to take in at once, so just take it step by step.

Starting your own PvP match under the rules that you want will be possible soon. They have recently added a feature called “Custom Arenas” that do just that, however it is in beta testing at the moment and is only available to a select group of people. In the future it will be a public feature, but it will cost gems to create a custom arena.

I believe spectator mode is accessible, it’s also a new feature. I’ve never used it though, so I’m the wrong person to ask. Check the wiki link the above poster mentioned.
