How do I tell if I a on an overflow map?
I’m not so sure there is a main map as such any more, but pre-megaserver if you were on Overflow it would say so at the top of your minimap.
The most sure fire way to get to a desired map is to party up with someone who is on it and use the Join feature by right clicking their party portrait. But if the map’s full, it won’t work.

I undnerstand that, but presumable the map stops being full when people leave, so how would I get on that map after a few people have left?
By the method I described. You can use LFG to ask for a “taxi” to the map.
This presumes there actually is a main map now. There may not be!
I don’t think there’s any meaningful sort of “main map” nowadays. It’s possible to end up on a low-population map that will eventually close, but that’s fairly uncommon.
What are you trying to do, exactly? Get on a map with your friends / guildmates? Get on a map with lots of people?
If you press g it’ll show you the location of everyone in the guild, including you. I have noticed that if any of my guildies are in an overflow server, it will list the location as overflow.
Edited to remove repeating sentences.
Actual Overflow maps are gone, with the introduction of the Mega server.
You can however figure out which server/map your on by typing in the chat bar. ‘/ip’
This will give you the ip of your map, people focus on the last 2-3 digits and compare them to one another in guild chat.
Huh, I never knew that, ChoChoBo. That’s interesting.
ALL map zones are now what used to be considered “overflow”. That’s really what MegaServer system is all about.
If you want to identify your server, type /ip in the chat window and you will get the server IP of your current map zone. Note this IP will change with each map loading.

I’ll just leave this here then.
Yep. I’ve seen this, too. And I’d very much like to know what those “Overflow” maps are.
Where is that displayed in the UI? I’ve never seen it before.

guild panel. I’m sure that it is just a legacy text reference that needs to be updated or a ‘display bug’ as they like to say.

the last time I joined a taxi party I went from a map with 40 players waiting for wurm (all asking for a taxi) to a map with 15 players waiting for wurm.
