How do YOU make gold?
Northern Shiverpeaks
Farming high level events give decent golds as well as farming lower level crafting items.
The biggest factor I see to earning the money strictly through in-game activities Please don’t get all kitten hurt everyone out there buying Gems, it’s part of the game and I don’t have any problem with it – some day I’m sure I’ll buy a few too is that the TP is still WAY out of whack (at least on my server) for people trying to turn any profit or even just take minimal losses on anything less than the highest end of marketables. I’ve never experienced this to such degree in any other MMO but this games auction house had a rocky start and allowed for mass stockpiling prior to coming fully on-line. I’m still sure it will bounce back and “normalize” relatively soon though.
Oh, to try and better answer the question though and why I think some people (who are limiting their income to strictly in-game means at this time):
I’ve had this “discussion” on this forum before and don’t tend to again. Plain and simple though. If the market prices stay at this point where it is so much cheaper for people to buy the crafted item than it is for me to buy the mats to craft it, then I can either devote most of my game time to just farming to craft (you’ll still level but you’ll miss a lot of great content), I can purchase the mats I haven’t farmed yet at a loss, or I can just not craft. It’s a play style choice and you’ll have to sacrifice one part of your game-play or another – DON’T craft and make money, DO craft and lose money until you max out the craft, or BUY gems. I’m perfectly fine keeping enough cash around to comfortably play but not have the kind of coin it takes to get commander, at least til I hit 80 and run out of other stuff i wanna do first. That’s just personal preference though.
Really I don’t want to get into another “in depth” debate on the various theories of economic principle here but, “cheap stuff good, expensive stuff bad” is an economic principle that really doesn’t extend much further the than viewpoint of the guy buying a big bite and a 256 oz. ULTRA-Gulp (lol!) at 7-11 or whatever. The Trading Post’s “Sword” is indeed double edged and yep – cuts both ways as it turns out.
At least that’s what’s been hampering my financial schemes. But not to the point it’s making the game any less fun for me.
I’m sure there is a way to build reliable consistent income so you have a nice fat wallet by the time you’re ready to go get your commander title but sadly I don’t what it is bro. I’ll be watching this thread though for the answer heh
