Guild Wars 2

Ok, the first time i saw a cheater was late night, at Orr. I was running near the temple of Grenth. It was bugged in my server in those days, so i was just exploring around. Than I saw….Flash! No wait! It wan’t Flash. She was a guild wars 2 character moving so fast that was like teleporting directly to the temple.
And i wan’t lagging at all!!

Probably she done it for takeing the skill point/poi without fighting mobs, because she turned back , facing me again. Unfortunaly, i wasn’t prepared and i cound’t right-click on her avatar.

Today (in the afternoon), an other one! This was a char, warping between mining nodes. it was clear and simple. But this time i reached to right-click and reported!
But there was no “cheating” option. So i pressed “botting”

isn’t there a “hacking” option when reporting someone? “cheating” in some games can be referred to as “hacking”, because they are mostly exploiting security holes within the game code to manipule it

if not, this topic should be moved to the suggestion section

there’re definitely should be a “cheating” or at least “hacking” option
although, i’d like to have both, because “hacking” could be misunderstood

Just wondering, it wasn’t a thief using shadowstep or a mesmer using blink right?

Because on my thief I do shadowstep between mining nodes. If I want to craft a character to level 80 I shouldn’t be forced to buy my mats off the TP or kill mobs imo… so I use the thief for that and can shadowstep near 2000 whatever they use for range identification without having to wait for initiative.

Like bing said, There are very legitimate ways of going from a to b very fast. I never have played the Thief, but do nknow the shadow stepping off the sins in GW1. The ele has also a teleport skill (ride the lightning).

so to explain a bit more like the second. This skill does teleports you almost instantly from A to B. It doesn’t give an unfair advantage when walking (the distance it can maximum go is pretty short, and the amount of time to go from a to b when just walking with the ele skill windborn speed is roughly the same cause that one last longer, giving a smaller speedboost but over a longer amount of time.

The skill has also a limitaition that you can’t use it to skip blocks in the terrain (you won’t go through rocks, and when trying to cross a gap you end up at the bottom of it).

Last off al, out in the open, if you use it keep in mind that the end effect is that you deal a short range aoe damage, so you risk agroing foes in your path or at the end (foes are like arock, you wont go through them, so it ends earlky and you end up agroing them.

so beside in a real fight or when running through towns/jumping puzzles, this skill doesnt give a benefit.

To do what you are describing to have an unfair benefit you need to hack the game. This is very hard, very traceble and not really worth the effort for the effect your get (shortcut to a single node or a single skillpoint).

I therefor are (respectfully) sceptical bout your claim that the person was cheating and I think you only saw a skill you misunderstood but that doesn’t give an unfair benefit

Ok, now that you mention…Maeby the second time could be shadowstep. The character was a char, wearing medium armor, but i don’t remember the class. In the middle of the char starting zone there’s a cript, full of ghost (and the Ghost cat), with one entrance.
He moved from the stairs to the left wall of the cript. Is enought range for shadowstep?

But I’m almost sure that the first time wasn’t normal. There was NO animation of any kind, no light effects or sparkle. I was a few meters after the Patc Cannon.
The first second that character was at my side. The second after she was at the top of the stairs.The next one, she disappeared (probably foward). And it happened again whend she came back.
If that was a skill….she had 0 cd on casting it.

Shortbow skill number 5 is a shadowstep to target area with a blindness aoe for mobs within range. So if they can shoot from where you saw them to where they ended up then sure.

Thieves also have enough initiative to do this skill 2 times back to back, and the utility skill for shadowstep has a longer range. If I do two of the shortbow#5 and then the utility I can make it from the big fountain in LA to the mystic forge without taking steps (or pretty kitten close). Edit – actually that’s wrong since I can’t shadowstep over the water between the bridges by the mystic forge, but fairly certain I can shadowstep to where those two bridges split without taking any steps.
