Q:
How do movement speed buffs work?
A:
So which is it? Am I bugged or is it capped at 33%?
Its capped at 33%
and the fastest speed you have activated will be that speed
so if you have the 25% sigil oof air and 10% faster in Air trait you will move 25% faster
swiftness is the highest you can get wich is 33%
as i said with 129% speed you would even make speedhack look bad
I’m playing an elementalist and feel like given all the movespeed bonuses I have I should be moving way faster than I am.
I have 10% from the 5 point air trait, another 25% from the 10 point air trait, another 25% from sigil of air, and an additional 33% from haste.
I should be moving 93% to 129% faster depending on if MS bonuses are additive or multiplicative, but it definitely doesn’t feel like I’m moving this fast at all. In fact, every single person I’ve fought in WvW has been able to chase me down when I’m just running in a straight line.
the max speed you can reach is 33% ( the CAP is at 33% )
if you had 93 – 129% faster you would make speedhack look bad

Must be broken for you, I move 145x faster with my character. Report it.
I don’t think so bro.

Speed buffs don’t stack “move speed”. The fastest you have active is the one at which speed you’ll move.
Swiftness stacks duration.

Please keep the discussion constructive and stop arguing, thanks so much.
Stop arguing, as in, I can’t point out you’re likely false in your assertion? Your character does not move 145x faster than its original speed. End of story.
To OP,
33% faster is what you are able to get max, just ignore what 145x faster it is a joke.
So basically, the 10% trait, the 25% trait, and sigil of air are all 100% combat worthless when using the staff because you have haste?

But it’s my character, you’ve never seen it, I think it does. I’m pretty fast.

That’s wrong. 33% is the cap.

Let’s assume a normal walking speed of 5 km/h. 145 the speed of that is 725 km/h. That’s about the speed of a commercial airline.
So basically, the 10% trait, the 25% trait, and sigil of air are all 100% combat worthless when using the staff because you have haste?
yes, they don’t add up. That doesn’t make them completely worthless (10% trait definitely is, though).
Remember, remember, 15th of November
Hahaha 145×. Classic!
Listen to yourself, arguing with a guy who is quite obviously just stirring you…

So it seems. =p
Guild Wars 2 Official WikiA character’s movement speed can be increased or decreased via several methods. Speed is measured in units per second (u/s). Both speed buffs and debuffs do not stack, the effect with the greatest value will be used. Having Swiftness and Signet of Air active will make you move 33% faster, not 58% faster. The movement reduction while in combat will stack with movement speed debuffs.

While a wiki can be edited by anyone, I would hope it has more validated information than a forum post. It does seem to have more information to help validate what Kuruptz.4782 has already said.
