I am wondering how people end up with 3.5k+ achievement points on their account, what means will net you this many points?

As a pretty casual PvE player I have managed to acquire almost 2k points, which I’m proud of but I’m the kind of player that wants something to show for all I’ve done (titles imo are not developed yet to go after)

I’m guessing a lot of them are in PvP which I have hardly scrathed the surface of… does anyone have any good tips/figures on achievement they might want to share?

I have a little over 3.5k and I can’t say I’ve really done much purposeful achievement hunting. I mostly just do stuff I’d do anyway. I do my daily almost every day and my monthly every month. I try to run my daily fractal as well. I’ve gotten all the holiday titles, although I skipped the holiday achievements that weren’t fun for me (like the sPVP and the JPs.) I have 100% world completion, but that’s more because I want a legendary than because I wanted the achievement points. I got most of the explorer achievements and a lot of slayer achievements in the process.

I haven’t touched sPVP, and up until this week I’ve only WvWed for the monthlies. (Now I’m trying to get my 500 badges in, in case they rework them in the next big patch to be even harder to grind.) WvW doesn’t seem to be a very fast way to rack up achievements, though.

I would say the fastest way to get points, if you’re hunting them deliberately, is probably crafting and the JPs. The holiday events also tend to be a high reward for time invested, but obviously you can only get those during the events.

don`t bother with achievement points, there`s a freak around here with 20k points from the infinite salvage achievement and I`m sure he`s not the only one spending gold for useless points.

it would have been a decent way to judge player experience but now it`s ruined, they really dropped the ball on this one

The infinite salvage nets you only 2 points each tick!
One would need to salvage 24/7 since game launch to get anywhere close to 20k …

I’ve been playing since launch, and have 2561. I try to always do my daily but never completed a monthly cos I hate Fractals and went into WvW only to map. I have only 1 toon (no alts) with only 2 crafts maxed to 400.

As for events, I did the Mad King and the Karka events, but had no interest in the Wintertide event. Only did the snowmen building cos the snow patches were everywhere…

So, most of mine came from doing dailies, exploration (100% world completion), and Slayer achievements.

EDIT: just wanted add in personal story. You get points for completing various sections in the PS.

They need to either remove the repeatable achievements from the list (like the salvage one or the dailies/monthlies) or have two separate numbers, all and non-repeatable

IMO the daily and monthly achievements should only reward points the first time you do them. Although I think achievement points are pretty arbitrary in general and don’t mean much so it doesn’t really bother me.

As for getting points I think the best way is to forget about it and focus on other aspects of the game. A lot of the achievements looked like a lot of grind when I first saw them, but if you ignore them until you’ve finished everything else you want to do then you’ll be a long way along with a lot of them (especially the “Kill X number of Ys” and "X kills with Y weapon ones) and any you do want to finish should be fairly easy.

I don’t have that much achievment points, but fairly close. Around 3.2k. I have not gone out of may way to do these things except for the monthlies, which I only discovered in November.

I do the daily every day, but it almost comes on its own while playing. The only part that needs a bit doing is finding the 15 different types of things to kill.

I just play and explore the world. Sometimes I look at the slayer lists and may kill a few more creatures of a given type if the achievement is not full yet and they are right there. I’ve not gone specifically to hunt any on purpose yet. I suspect I will have to go do that with giants. Only I have no clue where to find those.

Well the 2k that I have now Ive got without trying at all (except a few wintersday events).

But I realize that the points don’t really reflect on how skillful a player is, more than that it shows how much time theyve probably spent in game, and Ive partied with at least a few 3k+ people who had no idea what they were doing.

I view it as a kind of milestone marker myself, it reflects to me the effort and fun Ive had playing the game and reminds me of that.

That’s just me though

Edit: getting back to my question though I was wondering if theres an area of the achievement list that is fun/easy to complete for a good amount of points? Besides pvp im not tapping into that ‘goldmine’ yet

I like Jumping puzzles so I already did all of them while doing my 100% exploration, this gives 440 points.
If you like exploration you can try the Explorable achievements as they are numerous, fun and give lots of points, there are mini dungeons to do, hidden places to find and more. Those are nice 500+ points, it depends then if you want to do all the Dungeon paths and get a Legendary weapon.
Boss achievements are fun, there are achievements for all the starter area bosses, the 3 dragon lieutenants and one extra in Bloodtide coast, overall they can also be fun to do, the dragons can be rewarding if you are lucky.
Hero achievements are probably the best way to get lots of points while doing something unique and fun. Basically, you have to make one character of each race and see all their storylines up to level 30, it’s not hard or time consuming by any means and it is fun (if you like the story). Then pick three of those characters, enter a different Order and do their storyline too, there a lot more points while “doing something”.
You shouldn’t even “try” the Slayer and Weapon Master achievements, they will come natually as you do the others.
