Thank you. I have seen the infusions on the Laurel Merchant….but reading the wiki, I still don’t know if i can apply them to the ring myself if I have zero in all crafting …and I apologize if it does actually say if I can or not…I obviously missed it
I may be wrong but from what i see on Wiki you place the Item and the Infusion on the Mystic Forge’s slots, and the Item gets upgraded, and for such crafting skills wouldn’t be needed, so you would be fine.
Sorry for the late reply,
So you can do 2 things… You can buy an infusion (lets use a Guilded infusion as an example http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Gilded_Infusion) You simply double click the infusion and you apply it to a piece of ascended gear like you would a Rune to a piece of Armor.
Or you can infuse the item in the mystic forge. After the ascended item is infused it will have (Infused) after the name. So lets use Red Ring of Death as an Example

If you look at the later item it will have a recipe of items you need to throw in the mystic forge to Infuse the Item.
You can only put a glided infusion on an Amulet with a utility infusion.
So buying the infusion and clicking on the jewelry piece is the same as using the forge? ..ie end results in stats are the same?
Edit: a little difficult to understand. Most of the explanations are dolphin clicks to me…a different language
No the difference is if you use an infusion item and add it to the slot its filled and that’s it. If you infuse the item in the mystic forge you get the infusion bonus in the item stats itself and you still have the free infusion slot.
Going back to my red ring of death example
Normal:
+103 Power
+68 Precision
+8% Critical Damage
Unused Offensive Infusion Slot
Infused:
+103 Power
+68 Precision
+8% Critical Damage
+5 Agony Resistance <- – – <—-Difference
Unused Offensive Infusion Slot
Infusing through the Mystic Forge gives the item extra Agony Resist
Agony resistance is for PvE?
If that is true, I don’t need it. So I don’t need to use the forge then if it is only for WvW?

Agony is only for fractals over lvl 10, so yeah you won’t need that at all.
Buy the infusions in the WvW laurel vendor, those give “+1% guard damage” in the offensive slots and “-1% damage from guards” in the defensive slots, besides the status bonus of the infusion itself.
(and the other 8 elite specs maxed too)
