Hi guys, I am a lvl 40 ranger and I only managed to make 1.2 gold until now. Now, I went to my trainer and noticed the second manual for traits costs 1 gold. So after 40 levels of hard work I am about to get broke again. I am not mad or something, and actually my question is: am I doing something wrong?

I am 130 in hunstman and leatherworking so maybe this is a problem? I try hard to gather the mats myself and not buys them but sometimes I really need something from the trading post for insignias and the sort. Also, I try to sell stuff that I don’t need and salvage items in order to get more mats.

Is there some secret for making in-game gold at lower levels or I should just get used to being broke? Thanks in advance to anyone willing to answer.

The crafting is definitely adding to your lack of gold. Its much more cost effective to just sell every mat you get until youre much higher in level and are able to get much more gold doing events and dungeons and farming.

At level 40 you have made far more than 1.2g. It’s how much you spent that matters.

Half the battle of having money in this game is in spending it wisely.

You can farm mobs, farm events, farm nodes, try and play Trading Post Tycoon, etc. Just some advice (that may or may not apply):

Stop buying Dyes. Only buy armor every 10 levels while levelling, only buy weapons every 5+ levels if you don’t get decent drops. Benefits of certain runes and sigils aren’t significant enough to upgrade to a higher level rune/sigil, majors will often suffice over extremely costly superiors, etc. Don’t Waypoint everywhere, only when absolutely necessary or a huge time saver.

Also, dont waypoint to Lion’s Arch. Hit the PVP button, go to the Heart of The Mists, then use the portal over there to get into Lion’s Arch. Saves you a ton.

You don’t make very much gold until you hit lvl 80 areas.
