How does aggro work?
To be honest, We dont quite know 100% about how Agro works so just consider it a “Random factor”.
I dont know if you havn’t noticed but: There are No Tanks in this game.
So most likely Shared aggro. You want to coordinate "Control’ and “Support” with your team while contributing “Damage”. All professions are self-effeciant and do well in combat.
SO I wouldnt worry much about it. ArenaNet is tinkering with agro a lot so no one knows 100% how or where it goes. Again, consider it as “Random Shared Agro” as a factor for now and you’ll be fine.
Are you new to the game?
Varies. High toughness is usually a good way to ensure most enemies will focus on your character but there are some bosses who prioritize range or will go after a person reviving.
Toughness / HP do matter as I noticed that mobs/bosses tends to “stick” to ones with high toughness and/or low HP.
Also reviving (IMHO) is guaranteed aggro.
In GW the Aggro worked rly smart, mobs always went for the healer, or just the general backline and the tank had to fight for his agro.
I geuss in this game it works the same, people with low health, or high dmg get prioritised
