Q:
How does burning condition stack?
A:
Burning stacks in duration, not intensity. So your example is correct. If there are 10 secs of burning and you apply a 2 sec burning, now the mob has 12 secs of burning.
But like you said, there is a max limit. So the burning condition can never exceed 25 secs. So anything beyond that is wasted.
But if there is a large group of players all applying burning, the duration time would count down and then back to 25. So theoretically, burning could be continuously be going till the fight ended.
I really don’t like that burning stacks duration, and not damage.
But I am curious how the damage is calculated. If I have a lot of condition damage and I’m applying burning, while there’s another player applying burning with little to none, how does it determine how much damage each tick does?
As far as I have observed, the application with the highest damage will override all others.
Correct.
For the duration of burning, the highest burning damage source (condition damage) will take priority. if a 500 damage burn for 1 sec hits, then a 100 damage burn for 3 sec hits… it burns 500 damage for the first second and 100 for the rest.
I’m not entirely sure that the duration stacking mentioned is the right one as i’ve observed that the times don’t add, they overlap. so if you apply the 1 sec burn and the 3 sec burn simultaneously, the enemy will burn for 3 seconds only (not 4). need confirmation.

The duration does stack, however it adds to the remaining duration. For example, if a 1-second Burn is applied, then 0.5 seconds later a 3-second Burn is added, the burn will last 3.5 seconds.
Ok Ojimaru, if the burning would last 3.5 seconds will it use the highest level of damage? In other words extend the maximum damage burn? If not it really isn’t extending the duration.. the burn damage does not increase and duration does not increase so no real stacking in either duration or damage.
Now if the first burn does 500 damage and burns for 1 second and someone cast a level 100 damage burn for 3 seconds and it does stack the duration it would actually be useful than because it would be a 500 damage burn for the 4 seconds. Otherwise you can’t say it stacks or increases duration at all it just queues up so when the most damaging burn runs out the next one queues up to replace it.
