Q:
How does the Leap Combo Finisher work?
A:
Any time a leap finisher passes through a combo field then the combo will occur at the end of the leap at the position where the leap winds up. Or at least this is what I’ve observed with water and fire fields combining with the greatsword leap and dog pet leaps.
This is useful to know when you are looking to use a leap finisher with a water field, as the combo will be a localized splash heal that happens where you finish the leap rather than where you start or where the field is.
Servants of Fortuna [SoF] - We serve fortuna; may she grant us a smile.
When does the effect actually take place for the combo? Is it at the beginning of the leap or at the end of it or when you pass through the combo field?
From what I’ve noticed while playing, it’s simply jumping through it, which means that starting out in it or ending it also counts.

The combo finisher is a skill which causes movement through or within the initiator’s field such as creating a projectile or spinning or jumping the player. An eligible initiator augments the finisher by adding damage or creating other effects. For example, using Cyclone Axe near a Flamewall throws fire projectiles in different directions. Finishers can only interact with one initiator at a time.
I’m not sure how to answer it accurately. The above is from the wiki. I know when a guardian uses a two handed hammer smash on a ranger healing spring is splashes the spring make a splash heal… that happens at the end of the smash.
