I see these awesome skins offered at the black lion weapon specialist. My question is what determines how many tickets it takes to purchase them? I see it varies depending on the type. 2nd question is there a limited amount the vendor will sell? So that way it keeps them rare and not everyone has them in a few years.

When a new set is released it cost 1 ticket for a while then it usually change to 3~5 tickets, there is no fixed rule to how many it will cost.
You get the tickets from the Black Lion Chest, where you can get a ticket or a scrap, the scraps you can change 10 for 1 ticket.
There is no limit on how many you can buy, but since it isn’t easy at all to get a ticket, maintain the skins rare isn’t an issue.

Thank you for the answer. Yes in the hundreds of hours I have spent playing the game I have only gotten one ticket scrap. I don’t want to buy keys. They need to drop more.

Are some limited time claim tickets? I am reading on wiki and it looks like for example fused weapons are limited time?

Not anymore, they were time-limited before (BL chest drops a specific ticket for only that weapon skin set)

Now they changed it to a general scrap/ticket system.

You can still turn in those old tickets though.

If you have an old ticket you can change it at that same NPC for the corresponding weapon, but now there aren’t any temporary tickets anymore.
