Hello everyone. One thing I love doing is devoting my time to doing things for other players in MMOs. In the past I’ve done this through grinding and power leveling in diablo 3, as well as making a reddit post on the WoW subreddit saying that I would pick one person to farm tons of gold for.

However my interest in these games has waned and I’ve been looking for a new game, I made an other post on reddit about MMOs people would recommend for someone who is into doing these kinds of things, and Guild Wars 2 came up quite a bit, although most of the people who recommended it don’t know much about the game like myself.

I myself have played it a bit in the past but as my highest character was only around 30, I’m still very clueless about the game. I’d like to give Guild Wars 2 an other try and I’d just like to know how much of an impact it would make if someone grinded a lot of gold for you or was willing to go out and gather materials for you. Would it be a big deal and save a ton of time? Or would it just be a minor convenience?

That’s all I’d like to know, thank you. (If anyone is interested in this offer then maybe you could say so, and when I level up I could do that for you! )

I know you can love the game without going near the trading post to buy things as you can just wait to gather it yourself, or any form of that. However in my opinion the rational person wants as much gold as they can possibly get because if you somehow get everything you desire for gold, you can convert it into gems! Gems being the thing you buy with real money that can buy gem store exclusive items.

I personally wait till I have real life money to spend on the game for the gem store items I want so I think that goes in my favor for being able to make the most out of any gold given.

So since I have a huge list of expensive things I’m working for, I would absolutely love the help. The current thing I’m making is the legendary staff Nevermore <3. There’s a ton of stuff I could go into detail about why it’s expensive and how much it costs, but I’ll hurry say it’s expensive, and you actually have to pay the game to make it. Whether people enjoyed the way they choose to grind or not.

Anyway I love explaining things, and can answer pretty much any question you may ever have in game. So pick me ! I want a friend made out of gold! Feed my addiction! Me! Lol

-best of luck

Side note: Dungeon/fractal elitist should probably be avoided if you want to enjoy the game by doing whatever you want. It you enjoy metas! they should still probably be avoided This is strictly towards negative players.

Hmmm between my friend and I we joke how one can never have enough gold :P. The game does have the nickname of fashion wars 2. But to me I see playing games as for fun so I play a lot of the content that gives next to no loot. There are several things I’d love to have that I would have to devote a lot of time too farming to get, but they are mostly skins (legendaries) and convenience items like permanent contracts and logging tools. So yeah i’m sure to a lot of players wouldn’t mind having a friend who farms for them :P.
Somethings you can grind are HoT metas, Silverwastes, and nodes. In some of the mid level maps you can run around and farm lots of ore, wood, and vegetables to sell for gold.
Anyhow good luck, hopefully you can find a couple friends to devote your time too, as I’m sure there are plenty of players out there who would a friend made of gold. XD

You already seem to have your answer but I would just like to respond to your initial inquiry by saying that one of the many awesome things about GW2 is that the importance of gold and crafting is entirely a personal affair. You can play, enjoy, and be competitive in this game with minimal effort to acquire gold as you can get exotics very easily and there is nothing in the gem store that is essential.

And yet, if you like shiny things and feeling “special” there is a plethora of items that you can work towards as a personal goal….far more stuff than most people will ever have time to farm gold for.

I second all of this. I also want to point out that you can spend an hour a day and earn 50-75 gold (craft and sell all 4 ascended mats, and run all 3 tier daily fractals), and then enjoy the rest of your time doing whatever you like, like LS or maguuma content or working on achievements. If you decide you want gold, its easy to acquire.

One caveat on this: the gold amount made assumes you have the necessary materials already and don’t have to buy them from the auction house. Last I checked, you won’t make money if you have to purchase mats for ascended materials on any except MAYBE deldrimor steel.

daily fractals are awesome.

You do, even if you have to buy the mats. I dont even buy very many mats, and I never farm. I get a ton of mithril and silk from salvaging things, and I pick up various other woods and leathers and cloths as I go, not to mention ectos. I come out probably 5g profit per item, every day, and I never farm the mats. I just use what I get in ordinary play

When I say farming, I should have said “procuring them any way other than buying from the TP”. Apologies.

I was mathing it out at one point, and right after HoT dropped you could make a good amount this way, however once you’ve burned through what you have and have to start buying all the mats from the TP to keep going, the cost benefit analysis made this a zero sum game (as of about a month or two ago, that may have changed since then).

Yeah if youre logging in and doing nothing but crafting 4 things and leaving again. I do Tequatl every morning, salvage the trash I get, BOOM silk, leathers, ectos. Do a mission or two, or some SW, or whatever you fancy, and silk and leathers fall from the sky. Hit up every tree and node within a few feet of your running path, BOOM woods and ores. You dont have to “farm” to get mats. You get things from doing literally every thing in the game.

yeah i know, but some of them require ridiculous amounts of a material. One bolt of damask needs 300 silk scraps! Ugh… that one in particular is ridiculous…

Deldrimor and spiritwood are much easier (since you can harvest those as well as get them from salvage).

I think one of the best things for Gathering / Crafting in this game is the shared resources bank. You can keep alts in low- or mid-levels to do daily farming of nodes, etc. and it all goes to the same resource bank (account-wide) without visiting a bank, even. That’s some serious QoL stuff, in my book.

If money is not tight, I recommend buying (Gem Store) the +250/stack expansion (at least one, that way, you can have 500 in each stack in your resource bank). I’d also invest in the permanent tools – especially the Watchwork Mining Pick.

Also, though expensive, the shared inventor slots (up to 5) make sharing the permanent tools and Salvage-O-Matic between alts very convenient (though you’ll have to remember to unequip and move to the shared slots before logging out).

Finally, there is the additional crafting skill unlock (buy two) for a total of 4 crafting professions on each character (so less alts, if you roll that way).

So many really good, quality of life enhancements in this game compared to others. I don’t mind dropping fifty bucks here and there for gems… plus, you can sell them for gold if you need it and be a whale (like me!) in supporting this game, because my time and convenience are easily worth that to me. If it is not worth it to you, then there may be a whole new challenge that awaits (lack of QoL play!).

Usually playing GW2-64 under WINE on Linux Mint 17.3 – and lovin’ it.
