Q:
How is "end game" content in GW2?
What you do now, is basically what you do at endgame as well. There are dungeons that you can do (better) at 80, or you could try working for a legendary if that tickles your fancy or play some PvP, but the game is no different than now.
Me, I’m an explorer, so I love simply wandering. The fact that I still discover new things in areas I have been before is enough to keep me interested.
There are some activities like world completion and doing all jumping puzzles but these things will be done at some point.
Then there’s dungeons, but nowadays that means mostly FotM.
And WvW is pretty popular.
Dunno what people would do beyond that. For me it wasn’t enough so I quit playing and hope things will get better. Maybe someone who is still playing can give more options.
Well, that really depends on you!
As for me, I personally L-O-V-E the enormous depth of lore available ingame, so first I did map completion in a quite slow pace, simply enjoying the little stories littered across the world. After that one was completed, I wanted to experience another race-specific storyline, so I started another character and enjoyed that storyline. Now he hit lv 50 and the more “generic” Trahearne-storyline starts now, so I read a few things about market dynamics and started playing the TP just for the fun of it.
Of course, you can always try to get your unique skins/legendaries or try WvW or PvP or build up a guild etc.

Bassicaly there is no endgame content.
The content available at max level does not differ from that available at lvl 30.
This is one of the bad points of GW2 imo.
So if ur expecting raids or some such ..there isnt any.
If ur expecting a grind for the ’best ’ gear ..there isnt any, since all lvl 80 exotic gear has the same level stats.
The only thing that differs is the skins, thats bassicaly what ur after when building a legendary. And to build a legendary u dont really need oot do anything hard or challenging ..u just gotta be rich. You bassicaly buy a legendery.

Your endgame starts on level 1, your first dungeon that provides level 80 exotics comes available on level 35.

And i would not take SolarNova to serious, he clearly did see only a very small chunk of the game, there are currently get ascended items for your back slot and rings slots in the fractals, which is a dungeon to challenge level 80’s. It starts quite simple and it becomes harder as you progress on your level. On level 10 the add agony, here the real use of the ascended items comes in because you can infuse them so they give agony resistance and if you have the infused version they give 5 resistance without infusion and with infusion 10. Currently the only way to get ascended items is fractals (ascendent items have higher stats as exotic), but in the live steam of yesterday ANet told the new reward system for achievements that is coming will actually grant you the possibility to get ascended items also, however did did not specify the equipment slots.
And indeed buying a legendary is possible, but you can also sell it. In the end if you like an legendary it’s your own choice if you want to work for it or just pull one of the trade post, however i think the satisfaction you will get from crafting one yourself is bigger as pulling one out of the trade post.
@SolarNova, really try high level fractals you will see they are just as hard or even harder as the raids your talking about.
I do fractals daily, (aswellas other dungeons, and WvW), they are just another 5 man dungeon and are only hard for the same reason other dungeons in the game ‘can’ be hard. OP damage and HP on the mobs. Not all bosess have required tactics, those that do are very simple.
Gw2 has its own ‘type’ of endgame, but in a general term GW2 doesnt have endgame as most people know it. hence my comments.
The endgame Gw2 does have ..gets old fast, since ur just repeating the same old dungeons, even fractals only gets harder becouse of the increased dmg.

The ‘traditional’ MMO endgame exists because players want to feel progress, so virtul carrots are dangled in front of them. You have to let the players catch the carrot eventually, so then you have them pay you for a new carrot that will be held in front of them until the next expansion, i mean carrot, launches.
Guild Wars 2, by design, rejects this model. Play it because it is fun. You will not step away from the game for a couple months and come back to find that your once top-end gear is now long-since obsolete. If you like dungeons, there are dungeons, and there are content designers creating new and tweaking existing dungeons because people like them and want new experiences. Lore, events, WvW, PvP… all are changing as more content is developed. I do all these with my characters on a regular basis. I do them in zones where you wouldn’t go on a level 30, but I also go to lowbie zones and the content, though easier, is still fun, some is mildly challenging, and it is all rewarding.
Now, I know somebody is going to try to point out the post-release addition of Ascended gear as counter to the no-gear-treadmill point. The change in stats is trivial. The loss of flexibility is significant. Ascended quality gear was planned since before release, it just wasn’t ready until the game had been out for 3 months, and even then it wasn’t ready for an across-the-board rollout. Even if another tier of gear is added, your old gear will not be obsolete.

I really wanted to rage on you for posting this but you said it’s your first post, so I’ll go easy, like you requested.
This topic has been debated on quite a lot. There is a search box at the top left, so you can search for “end game” in different forums such as the GW2 discussion or suggestion thread. You’ll find a lot more information there then people will likely be able to explain here.
Just remember in the future to search for a topic first before posting it.
well i kinda did all the puzzles and all the funstuff, map completion etc, so kinda, the only thing thats left now is pvp and daily stuff….
it’s fun because once ur 80 you can play really casually theres not much left to do than pvp on a daily bassis and get abit of money here and there
EDIT: oh and i forgot the regular dragon events every 3 hours, u get a chance to a precursor for legendary, those are kinda nice, repetitious, but nice
