How long has it taken you?
OVER 9000 MINUTES!
I played an ele to level 55 or so in bout 3 weeks. Then I decided to start an engineer and really liked it, she got lvl 80 now 1,5 week ago (took me bout 5 weeks or so) and today I pstarted to pick up the ele again
lvl 80 in this game is just a number. In most game it is required to do the really fancy stuff, but i nthis game due to the downscaling the difference is so small it doesn’t really matter.
Arise, opressed of Tyria!
I wasn’t counting, because I was/am too busy enjoying the game.
You should at least test each profession to level 15, or just try some builds out in sPvP at level 2. But it’s a good idea to test them all, as they each “feel” different from each other.

Thank you for the reply, i am playing a Guardian at the moment and he is lvl10, quite liking in because it is similar to my main role in Everquest, I have decided to do what is suggested and just play each class to 15 or so and go with the fav!
At the moment I don’t even know how to get into sPvP heh!.. But I am sure I will enjoy it. I assume sPvP makes you a higher lvl hence not having to physically lvl the char outside of a instance?
anyways cheers again!
I pre-purchased the game and was playing from day one, but I took a break for about two weeks, and only came back a few days before the Halloween event, so I’ve only hit 80 a few days ago.
According to /age, I’ve played that character for 146 hours today, and I’ve probably spent about 15-20 hours playing as an 80, so I’ll let you do the maths. I imagine this is much slower than most though, as I’ve been taking it pretty easy, and have stuck to just exploring and doing stuff that seems fun rather than grinding for experience.
Pre-purchased the game, yet to have an 80. Seems about lvl 40-50 ish I get the alt-itis! Though now all my slots are full…so we’ll see. Currently my highest is a Ranger @ 59.
About 3-4 weeks but I don’t remember exactly. I took a few breaks to work on alts but not much. I already knew what I wanted my main to be though from being in the beta. I wasn’t really trying to get there. I just played through the story and completed zones. Leveling comes naturally when you’re having fun
As for picking a main, I do suggest playing each until you get a good feel for them and narrow them down until you discover the one that fits you. There’s nothing wrong with alt-itis though.

1 to 40 during the 3-day head start, and then ~10 levels a day after that. Probably 7 or 8 days in total?
Lots of free time.
Took about 80 gameplay hours for my Ranger to hit 80. You could probably do it faster though with more efficient play.
if you going to take your time in lvling make sure to complete all zones before moving on to the next one
Haha…I’ve been playing since it was released (officially, not head start or whatever), and I still haven’t gotten a character to 80. I’m getting there though…my highest level character is in his mid 50’s, because I ended up remaking him (didn’t like the armor for the Order I chose).
I am forbidden from leveling that character without my friend, or he gets pissy…XP
Took me around 240 in-game hours.
In RL, from 3-day head start to around 2 weeks ago.
I first played a Thief until level 20-something, that took me through the 3-day head start. I then rolled a Ranger, and that has been my main since.
I was more interested in exploring and collecting all my ranger pets than leveling. The leveling just happened along the way. It took me longer cos I spent a lot of time lower level map areas to find the pets.
On my first character, it took 75 hours. (Charr Guardian).
Second one was a Mesmer and took 72 hours.

I’ve been playing about 5 weeks and my main is at level 78. I have in no way rushed through any of the game, just taken my time exploring, crafting, etc. I also have alts which range between level 5 – 30. My main is an ele if that helps you any.
