I’m going for map completion and I have 165 places in Maguuma, on my account it says 165/166, but I’ve seen some say there are 165, before I report this I want to be sure of how many places there are.

There are 166. It is possible to complete the achievement. Make sure you have all the jumping puzzles discovered as well as the “Aurora’s Remains” area in southwestern Brisban Wildlands.

You may also be missing Hidden Garden in Mount Maelstrom. This jumping puzle was added in Mad King update in October and became the 166th area in Maguuma.
