A guild mate and I are potentially planning on a switch soon. We’ve been on SBI since launch. While it’s a good server in some regards, I am finding it to be lacking in some aspects right now. Please note that I have been active all season and this swap has nothing to do with our rankings. I may end up staying but I’d like to know what’s out there!

1. How is your WvW aspect of the server? As in: what sort of players do you have? Is it a constant karma train and farm or do folks stick around even when the server is losing? I’m interested to know how dedicated to a victory the server is. I enjoy WvW and I like playing with folks who stand tall for their server. It’s very disheartening to lose many of your World’s strength because they don’t think it will be an easy fight.

2. How is the PvE aspect of it? I have been guesting here and there recently and found LA in some other servers to be MUCH more engaging than LA in SBI. Now, maybe it’s coincidence. It leads me to believe that maybe there is more going on in other servers? What servers do frequent activities together (or have guilds that sponsor server wide runs for different things).

I have not altogether decided if I will make the switch or not yet but I’d at least love to have some information. Thanks in advance.

TC may be of interest to you.

WvW wise TC has grown gradually and stuck fast over the past year. We are continually improving and have a community receptive to all sorts. We don’t spam queue maps when we are losing but even when times are tough our core and our militia are out there forwarding the Glory of the Toast. We have karma trains, raomers, ppt- centric guilds, gvg-centric guilds, you name it and it is on TC. We have meetings to coordinate reset and server wide forums for WvW postings. We also have a server wide mumble. If you have to question whether or not TC has fight in them look to our match-up last week where we got out there every night to eek ahead of SoR for the week.

TC is also the unofficial role-playing server for the NA region. Being a role-playing server means we have a diverse and active community that leads to an active PvE side of things. We typically have server wide events organized by players and guilds, ranging from races to trivia, scavenger hunts to beauty contests. LA is often plagued with a short queue or close to it and it is not uncommon to find players in almost any zone doing any dungeon or even running temples, etc.

Heard a good deal about both of these servers actually. Good things so far. I will certainly be guesting a bit in the coming days. Will also keep reading the input as it comes in!

would be nice to know EU or US, you can’t just switch to a different region, only different server within the region.

i am in far siverpeak btw, i dunno about WvW but PvE is quite helpful and really active.

OP said that he’s on SBI. So, NA. And you can transfer to other regions, just can’t guest.

Borlis Pass
1. We rarely karma train. If there was one, everyone would know about it, and it would probably be in our awesome forums. 99% of the time when you join our free public TS you will here commanders saying that this isnt a karma train and to bring one of several meta builds. We have stayed mid-rankings in WvW for a while now. We get one or two good sized guild zergs (40-60 which usually thins out as the night progresses) during primetime (5-9pm pst) with solid, helpful and often times funny commanders. Most of the guilds are 15-25 strong. The pugtrain is usually at a minimum, except for eternal and homeworld instance pug commanders. There are a few core guilds that have always been here, some transfers that have been here for a while. Its awesome to jump around in the public TS and get a feel for how each guild operates. Most of our larger guilds are committed to zerg busting, and the smaller roamer types we have seem skilled enough (havent run with them yet). Dont expect running with a guild here easy by any means (there are exceptions), the enemy usually outnumbers us greatly (as I am sure you are aware), but when we pull through (which is often enough) the sense of pride and glory is great.
2. The PvE side is decent, but not great. There are Queensdale and Frostgorge karma trains most of the time. Guild hosted Orr temple runs (yes we do them all in one run) every Sunday and sometime midweek another guild does it I think. Um, cant think of anything else in PvE. Oh yea, meta bosses. Always a good sized group for those, most times someone goes to LA to warn people. The LA chat is, well, chat. Not much going on there.
So there you have it. Check out borlis.org if any of this interests you.
