Q:

I noticed that the UI has an option to display server or local time. There’s no difference for me and I’m in PST (Anet home turf). So I’m curious as to whether there are east coast servers, or whether the server time thing is only for major world regions (America, Europe, etc.) and all the servers in one region have the same time.

As far as I know, if you are on an American server, your server time is Pacific. There are no “east coast servers”. All American servers are in the same place. European servers are also centrally located. I don’t know if their server time is set to Pacific or GMT though.

Bel is correct. I always run local time because using server time would make me late to stuff!

I wish they had dedicated servers for each time zone, but really, it doesn’t matter all that much in the grand scheme of things.

Servertime is always PST timezone. But when counting down to the event last weekend in Lion’s arch me and someothers found out that the actual time is taken from your pc-clock and when you pick servertime it is translated to PST. But it isn’t the actual time on the server (so not reliable to time things like events)

All of the above seems correct to me. However, I’ve noticed one anomaly: The times that things occur is off by 1 minute from the clock. Dailies reset at 12:01 AM UTC, not at 12:00 AM. I suspect this is on purpose, but it could be a coding error. In either case, if you complete an event before 12:00:59 (that’s a guess), it counts as the previous day.
