I somehow got my chatbox window to the upper left but now it is stuck there where normally the party interface is.

How can I get it back to the bottom ?

You should get a hand icon over the upper-right part of the title bar (where the tab labels are). You can use that to drag it down into position. You may have to narrow the window to make it fit beside the buttons.
