How to do the new 'daily dodger'?
I think it is when you see the white text EVADED! that you get credit. I got it pretty quickly by accident at the Nightmare Court assault event at the .. arrgh, forget the name, the waypoint in Caledon north of the Hylek cave puzzle. I dove into a group of mobs, they all went “we hate you die now” and I dodged through them. Several evades at a time from that.
I am a Thief, though, so I get tons of dodging.
If it helps, I got most of my dodges in Queensdale around Vale Waypoint. Specifically, I waited for bandits to use their spinning move and dodged through it. It seemed to register as evade, though I don’t know if all those evades count as one or several.
I had a smidge of trouble with getting dodges to register properly at first, but then I realized I was moving out of the way too soon — avoiding damage, but not “dodging.” So, you could try delaying your dodge a bit, or waiting til the last second before you avoid the hit.
If you’re ever in WvW and you’re part of a zerg taking down a keep or something, dodge around in the AoE from arrows and whatnot in front of the gate. Good times!
^^ I was playing WvW in a Zerg fight. When the battle ended (I was dead) and got back to town, I noticed my 15 daily dodge maxed. I think this new patch adds many componetns that is trying to encourage players to participate in WvW, including the daily revive. Dead players are everywhere for you to max those new daily achievements easy in minutes. :P
In Frostgorge Sound near where the dragon spawns there are a load of ice worms. Hit one of the large worms with a ranged attack and then stop attacking. After a few seconds it will throw a slow-moving rock at you. They are very easy to dodge, and the worm is stationary and does no other attacks provided you stay out of melee range so you can finish the achievement with one worm in about a minute.
I did my dodge daily within 5 mins. I happened to be at some low level zone, I aggroed a bunch of Warg by walking into them, then I start to time their attack and dodge. When endurance ran out, I just walk around a bit while having the Wargs chasing me, to let it regenerate, then rinse and repeat. It was very easy.
If you are having trouble getting dodge counts, try fighting Ettins. They have very long attack animations, and give tells quite long in advance.
The trick is to stand in the area of their attack when they START the actual attack (i.e. when the tell ends, and the actual attack begins), and to not get hit by it because of dodging.
Please note that only “evade” counts. Skills that make you dodge across the battlefield(giving “evade” popups) count. Skills that make you invulnerable (resulting in “invulnerable” popups) do NOT count. Not getting hit just by regular moving (which gives no popup) also does NOT count.
