Guild Wars 2

Hi! I’ve been playing guild wars 2 on Mac for 2 years now, I used to live in Malaysia therefore i bought a gw2 copy there and joined the US servers. I’ve now moved to Europe and am about to get a new PC, which means i’ll need to get a new copy of the game for it. When i do get it, i want to be able to play using my old account on it (US account). I still have my original gw2 disc, i would just need to buy a serial key. The question is, if i buy a serial key from one of the onsite retailers would it work on my gw2 disc i bought in Malaysia? and when do i get the prompt to choose my region? (Want US not Eu!)

I don’t think wether i use MAC or PC matters here which is why i didn’t include it in the tag! Sorry if i made any mistake or if my question sounds silly, i just want to be sure that’s all!

You don’t need another version. You can play on EU or US with every version.

once you have registered your account (which you obviously have, since you have played), you can play the game from anywhere in the world. you will have to authorise the new network IP address via email (or mobile authentication if you have that), but you don’t have to purchase a new copy of the game, or a new serial.

you just have to download the game, log in as you do now, authorise, and play.

If you did buy and register a new serial key that would create a new account, completely separate from your old one so you wouldn’t want to do that.

You might even be able to install it on your new computer using the disc, but I recommend just downloading it from the website because the disc will have the launch version so you’d have to download a ton of updates. Go to ‘My Account’, under your username at the top of the page, then Game Content, then select the client you want to download.
