Can I get a dusk throwing 4 rares on the mystic toilet or just 4 exotics?

4 exotics will have ~99.9% chance of giving a random exotic (I recall somewhere I heard there is a small chance of receiving a lower tier item). some of those random exotics are precursors, and one of those precursors are dusk. if you put 4 greatswords, you’ll get a greatsword out, which increases the odds that it’s dusk (simply because it can’t be many of the other non-greatsword precursors – it won’t increase your odds of getting any precursor).
4 rares will have a 20% chance of being promoted to exotic, then if it’s exotic, it’ll have the same odds of being the precursor you want as forging exotics does.
so if you use rares, you’ll have to do 5 times as many forgings, but each forging is cheaper.

rares and exotics over lvl 77(i think not sure if thats the exact lower limit) give you a chnace at getting a precursor. the chance is higher with exotics, as you will always get an exotic back, whereas with rares you only have a small chance for an exotic which greatly reduces the chance of getting a precursor

Are you guys sure? A guild mate told me the chances from a rare were patched a few weeks ago, and I’m wasting my time throwing them at MF…. and I already tried with 300 rare GS >.<

They patched a glitch that allowed people to toss in lvl 68 weps and get a precursor, they did not remove the chance of getting one from rares

I have no idea what the minimum level is that the rares or exotics have to be to get a precursor, but I do know that when you forge them the level increases a little, and it must increase to level 80 if you want any chance at getting a precursor.
