How to get some money, not being level 80?
Easiest way for me to get money while leveling was doing dungeons. You can do any of the dungeons lower than your level and you will be scaled to that dungeons level. Run each path a few times and either save your tokens or spend them.

Do 5 of these, any 5. Sell the guaranteed rare. There is your 1g.
Some people (like me) find dungeons to be extremely hard. I have finished a couple both in Story Mode and Exploration Mode. It has always cost me way more in armor repairs than I ever got out of it. But you gotta figure a guy called “Labyrinth” would endorse Dungeons! ;o)
It just kills me that EVERYTHING ends in a dungeon, too. (Halloween. Wintersday. The Karka Invasion. Flame and Frost. Super Adventure Box. Even my own Personal Story that I soloed since start ends in a Dungeon.)
Pretty much everything that comes at you in a Dungeon is the equivalent of a Veteran or better. I stroll through downtown Orr almost as easy as I did everything leading up to it. But Dungeons are something else altogether. Lots of folks are on my side in this issue. Many other folks say GW2 Dungeons are too easy and should be made tougher. I wish that second group would tell me how they can do Dungeons “easy”, especially since I won’t ever get to experience how anything ends if ANet insists on giving us nothing but Dungeons to conclude events.
Sorry for the rant. Maybe you’ll find that you are part of that second group. But all I ever got out of a Dungeon worth anything was the “tokens” used to buy dungeon-specific armor and weapons. They’ve been a horrible, frustrating money-sink to me otherwise.

Making money at that level is very hard if you don’t play the trading post, which I don’t.
My way of making money is pretty low tech. :-) What I did was harvest every node I saw and farmed mats. Look up the highest level mats you can farm, check their prices on the trading post and see what drops it and where they are. Farm for these mats and sell on the trading post. Also whenever I got a piece of gear as a drop, I always check against the trading post price before I vender it. At your level, the amount of money that comes in isn’t amazing but it’s steady.

Good god man you must being running around in masterwork gear if completing a dungeon does not cover your repair bill, actually masterworks cost less to repair so you would be dieing like 15 times, also what kind of a group are you with. And dungeons are suppose to be the hard content in this game so it is understandable that you find them hard. However they get a lot easier once you learn the ins and outs of each encounter.

Go Dredgehaunt Cliff and slay some Svanir .. Totems sell for around 2.50 silver, Claws for 1.80s or whatever. Should be easy to make 1-1,5 gold per hour i think.
Best MMOs are the ones that never make it. Therefore Stargate Online wins.

All level 80 Exotic Gear (except of back piece, of course) w/ max upgrade components, so it costs 1 silver, 64 coppers per piece to repair. I never really monitored income vs. outgo, so my statement may be a bit of a fish tale. But I never got anything worth very much from a Dungeon, so they are most certainly NOT money makers for me, especially considering the time they require to complete.
My group is almost always a random group that meets at the door. I am in a small Guild of real-life friends who aren’t fans of Dungeons either, and only VERY rarely are 5 of us online at the same time. So I never have any consistency from run to run in order to learn the ins and outs.

Focus on leveling up your character rather than getting money if your goal is just the Grandmaster book – Master Traits are good enough while leveling anyway, and your traits are reset when you get the next book anyway.
My advice is to make money (coin), do whatever you can to not lose money. Don’t use waypoints too much, try to get all the stuff you can with Karma, etc. Go exploring in areas with Renown Hearts of level 35-70 that involve combat, and complete those Hearts. That should net you good XP and gold, from selling of T3 and T4 crafting materials (e.g. Vial of Blood, Vial of Thick Blood).
couple tips:
- never buy exotic armors from the TP when your low on cash. Find a good dungeon group or guild group, gather tokens and get the best armor while also making gold.
- gather every node!! it will help you raise your crafting skill and if you dont like crafting it will make you money.
- try not to kill 1 monster at a time, use your AoE and kite the monsters. This way they don’t kill you that easy and killing 2 monsters in 1 minute gives you more then tanking 1 monster in 40 seconds. And if you kill 2 monsters in 1 minute 4 monsters will also go down in 1 minute!!
- pick up EVERY item that drops. my thief is now lvl 62 (all by killing/exploring, personal story is still at first mission) and its walking around with 11G.
- Do the big events (Maw, dragons, wurm, fire ele etc.) if your level is close to it! those eventst will even at lvl 60 reward you with a rare (yellow) weapon/armor that you can maybe use or sell for a couple silver. The event rewards also give you some silver.
- check dailies and do heart completing in the zones that also contribute to your daily! e.g. need to kill 40 enemies in shiverpeaks. go to that zone do 3 hearts and you have the daily part completed + 3 hearts. This giving you: money from daily, money from hearts, money from drops and after a couple of days/weeks money for zone completion.
couple tips hope it helps:)
Ok, so a lot of the posts above me have already highlighted most of my main methods but here are a few simpler and perhaps less effective methods.
a) if you’re lvl 70-something you should probably stop chatting on a forum and get to lvl 80 already
b) probably disagreeable, but one of the methods my friend used for ages was joining guilds, going into their banks, and taking all their gold. obviously most guilds are probably clever enough to not put anything hugely valuable in the new recruit section of the bank, but still it’s worth a shot if you need gold desperately. (he made about 3 gold doing it)
c) ask one of your friends, also probably disagreeable, but most of my friends have around 15 gold each sitting in their wallets because they asked me for gold in exchange for stuff like pencils at school, or answer copy and stuff like that.
As you might have noticed, the methods I mentioned are probably not that legit or agreeable, but still if you’re desperate enough, there they are.
Thanks for some of the tips all! Guess I will go for some dungeon running + daily stuff..
Biggest reason I felt poor was the simply stunning amount of money a legendary weapon costs (2300g) and me running around with 2-3g lol
But thanks guys!
dungeons, and selling the good stuff through trading post, that’s hands downt he best way to make money in this game :p oh and sell your crafting materials through the trading post, it gets you rich :p all my chars had like 1.5G by the time they reached lvl 10 so, it’s a fast way to make money and once level 80 do CoF path 1 over and over, it’s tedious, boring and brain numbing but gives you heaps of money :p
and don’t bother witht he legendaries, they’re way overpriced and don’t outclass exotics, their skins are to fancy and flower-girly in my opinion but i get why some would dig the skins :p
The easiest way to make money without dungeon farming as a sub-80 would be to spend laurels on heavy bags. If you get a blood, dust, and a scale thats at least a gold plus dailies grant nice xp. Post 80 soloist money farm used to be cursed shore farming but the May patch really ruined the fun of events, roaming is still fun with a good dps class though since zombies are easy.

Well legendary is meant to be a personal crafting quest for those who played almost all aspects of this game. Crafting one is a long, arduous and costly process. Each character is limited to crafting only two. So actually selling one is a big thing and extreme rarity goes hand in hand with an extreme price.

How about post 80 for a player that plays casual and fragmented (often I am unable to play dungeons / fractals because of IRL ) ?
My main is a decently geared condition necro. Should I go Orr? / Should I use some MF food maybe(would rather not use MF gear because I`m not that tanky)?
My next goal is to buy bigger bags (still using 5×8 slot bags) and since I am unable to run fotm, I need to find other ways.
Thank you.

One of the easiest source of gold for me is Vanilla Beans. I usually go do the Golem event in Mount Maelstrom and afterwards there are a bunch of herbs that is not too far away. Takes about 5 minutes to gather all 8 depending on their locations. Obviously you won’t always get Vanilla Beans but 15 from the 8 nodes isn’t very unusual. There is also a patch of artichokes.
Another option, check orrmaps.com / gw2nodes.com and gather as much of the ori as you care to.
If you haven’t done map completion for the 3 orr maps/mount maelstrom/frostgore sound/possibly fireheart rise then you should definitely do them since their rewards include 2 exotics. They won’t be level 80 exotics but they can include expensive runes/sigils. This assumes you have at least 1 Black Lion Salvage Kit from whatever.

Sadly, the best way to earn gold in game is to do dungeons or fotm.
I will recommend u to do COF path 1/2…usually takes less than half an hour for 1 run of each path, 12 slots bag are also not that expensive on TP. Only 23s or so for the cotton version. Use buy order if u are not in a hurry and u can save more.
One thing to note is that u shouldnt salvage the high lvl equipment(unless rare or exotic, instead just vendor them as i think u can earn more this way.
Thank you, I`ll try running CoF. This will reward money / items(why do I want to run CoF)?
U want to run COF because it is one of the dungeon that takes the least time to complete and give decent rewards

There is no “guaranteed rare”. You get a chance at a rare, but that doesn’t mean you will get one. You will get an exotic (or more) every time which you can sell. (once per account for the chance at the rare chest per day/per event and once for each toon for the other chests).

Actually there is a guaranteed rare. Have you done one of these events lately? Once you complete it there is a chest that pops up the same place your daily and monthly does and this has a 100% chance to be a rare or exotic. Also you said there is a guaranteed exotic? You most be extremely lucky if ever time you have opened one of these chests you got an exotic. Again just so everyone is clear if you do one of these events you will get one of the giant chests that has 4-5 items in it that has a chance to have a rare or exotic and also a chest that is guaranteed to have a rare or exotic. One easy way to make some gold regaurdless of level is to use the laurels you get from dailies and monthlys to buy the T6 bags of crafting mats, open them all and sell the mats on the TP. You could also buy the unidentified dyes as sell those as well.
