How to get to 80?
go to different areas and do hearts, events, point of interests, vistas and skill challanges.
Find a friend and do it with someone. Not only do you level faster, but you have some company along the way.
Just in case it isn’t clear NEVER ever grind, it takes forever. You will level much faster by completing hearts, participating in dynamic events (which also increases your karma to buy new gear with) and generally just completing as much as possible. Getting 100% zone completion (i.e. all vistas, waypoints, POI’s and hearts) gets you a nice chest reward which often have XP potions in them.
If you get stuck in a certain zone where the hearts are too high a level for you, then go to another zone. Access all the start zones for all the races through the Lions Arch portals, and even though you complete them in a scaled down level, you still gain the same XP…and the subsequent hearts in lower tier zones will be rather easier/faster to complete too.
You also gain XP for completing daily achievements such as variety kills or gathering. On that note, also gather as many materials as possible – all mining, logging and herb/food gathering earns XP and you can then sell on the BLTC to earn some extra cash or level your crafting skills.
Just grinding is the slowest way to level, hearts, events and completions (vistas, skill challenges) are your main source of XP for leveling.
Also, if you have plenty of money and/or materials, leveling a crafting profesion all the way to 400 is worth around 10 levels each. If you wanted you could reach 80 just by leveling different professions on that char, but it’ll probably cost a lot of money. There are several guides around the net to do that.
wrapped up in some crazy ritualist hoo-ha from Cantha.
A real grab bag of ‘you can’t hurt me. They’re called Guardians.
As stated above do not grind! This game was not designed to for you to grind to level. I have never found a shortage of my leveling curve by doing events and hearts. When you get a higher level do dungeons. Lots of xp. Never ever grind!
Always up wind from my prey. I want them to smell my farts!
Exploring provides the best gain, dynamic events are next.
If you are level 20, I recommend checking out Hessian Hills, there is a centaur event chain in the west of the map (level 24 I think) that gives good experience. (Defend the bridge, take out the lieutenants, take out the the champion, repeat).
Alternatively, run around and tag each POI, skill point, and waypoint in all of the level appropriate maps.

And yeah, that’s a fun event chain : P
As someone else said, you can level fast crafting to 400 in each skill. However this takes a lot of gold or real money to buy the gems for the gold if you don’t have all the mats which most probably don’t who do this.
I had an alt I didn’t want to run through stuff I had already done so I did this. The cost was roughly between 10 – 15 gold for each craft. I used these guides and followed them to the letter and they were very accurate:

Prices are a bit more than they listed due to cost of mats going up since it was created. If you do this make sure to use buy offers on TP and that will save you around 15-25 % than if you buy them at cost.
There is actually no reason to hurry leveling up in this game. Just walk around, do a bit of WvW, try out a few jump puzzles and explore the world… typically takes 3-4 weeks with casual gameplay to reach level 80…
I usually get bored once I reach 80, so I start a new character…
Cant stress this enough: dont grind, and grinding meaning staying in one place killing the same mob until it respawns again, this will not only dry up your soul but also leave you bored to the ground, doing hearts and specially events will level you up very efficiently.
Some people actually feel this game has very little content but by leveling alts you will find out that this game is HUGE! leveling up is a huge component of the game itself, hitting 80 isnt that meaningful in itself based on experience…
Take it easy my friend this isn’t a race, those minions, believe me will come.

If the only reason why ou want lvl80 is to get a specific build, thrn just go to Spvp. Ou have acces to all attributes and traits there, so yu have havr un eith your minnions.
Theres really no other reason to rush to 80…
The best way to level up is to enkoy the game, but i guess thats not an option?
