How to get to level 20 fast?
What’s so special about level 20? I hope you realize that there are 60 more after that.
Okay well generally speaking. How would I go about leveling moderately fast?
Do event, get your personal storyline to atleast 14, finish another map. If you have already done yours, go to other race starting zone and do them.
Everything you do grants experience, so make sure to gather and craft. check out your personal story also.
Well, my first inclination was to post an obscure quote from Meatballs, and say, “Is that what they teach you in that school of yours? 20!?”, but they have ‘no’ sense of humor, and I’d be given an infraction, like when I made a (harmless?) comment about expecting to see something regarding elderberries in a thread titled “French people are being mean to me!” (or something like that), which of course was a Monty Python reference, and at the same time, apparently an act of forum terrorism.
So I ‘clearly’ won’t start by saying that.
But what I will echo is Wasselin. ‘Everything’ gives you experience. It was frustrating to me at first, since I’m a ‘big’ crafter. When I hit 14, I decided to make myself some level 15 gear. When I was done farming all the materials I needed and crafted it all, I was 20. So I made that armor, and then I was 23, and then I went to Kessex.
DEs are a great source, and ripping through all the starting areas as Darkcool mentioned is also a good idea.
And welcome!
Well first off, this game isn’t about leveling fast to max level. It’s about the journey there. So take your time, there is no rush. There is nothing locked away at max level for you to rush to. You can experience everything right away without having to rush to 80.
As for leveling, make sure you are doing everything. GW2 is designed as an explorable type game more than a quest hub after quest hub game. Clear your maps, do events (as dynamic events are your main source of experience), do Renown Hearts, work on crafting (if you want to, not required), do some PvP (if you want to), etc.
There is no traditional questing system like other MMOs. The game is designed for you to relax and go explore. So just enjoy the journey.

Just try to complete as much of every map you come across, and gather all the ore, hierbs, wood that you come across. Also, level crafting if you want to.
All these will give you so much XP that you’ll be leveling in no time.
I find it best just to play, and not worry about leveling. I look at the level of my personal story and do it when I’m 1 or 2 levels higher, and go do other stuff until then.
This game is different from other MMOs. It’s all about the journey here, not the destination.
Cheers.

Ressing people, gathering resources, mining nodes, cutting trees. Hearts, dynamic events and the story line, do a bit of each, each day and you will soon level up. My personal advice is don’t rush the game, there’s no rush to 80, just enjoy it. =)
It’s nice to see everyone has similar leveling experiences. =)
Also if you ever need any tips, just send me a private message, if i can’t help you, i’ll ask my friends. =)
Ressing people
That’s another good one, and NPCs too.
crafting gets you to level 20 the fastest but costs a lot.
Do the daily achievement. Each time you make progress on that you get extra XP, and doing all the events, gathering and kills really adds up to a lot of XP. Plus, the achievement gets you some nice loot and karma.
WvW gives good xp. Try that.

When i saw the question my first thought was GW1 since its max level is 20. If indeed they are talking GW 1 if you have factions go to KC immediately and you’ll level super fast
…Why would they be talking about GW1 on the GW2 forums?
GW1 doesent have forums and for all we know they may have bought GW1 for HoM stuff.
I would expect level 20 was mentioned because something unlocks then, I think its weapon swapping. Certain levels unlock skill slots or traits or whatever and end up being target levels for some of us.
Speed depends on your class and build. Warriors will usually level quicker than mesmers for example. I personally found doing map completion to be a quicker method to level rather than farming events of doing WvW. By completing all of the starter zones (including the cities) you should be around level 25. If you know what you’re doing then you can complete a zone within 3 hours.
Weapon swapping opens at 7. Traits unlock 1 point per level at 11 (or is it 10?). Skill point slots aren’t level based, but based on the skill points you have.
Nothing special unlocks at 20 that I can think of off the top of my head.
Level 20 Third utility skill slot unlocked.
