A couple question about Rune statistics:

I have an Acolyte Band armor piece – Defense 14; +7 Power; +5 Precision. I added a rune that reads like this:

Minor Rune of Scavenging (4/2)
(1) +11 Condition Damage
(2) 3% Magic Find

Questions:

1) What does the (4/2) mean? It’s in Red on this particular piece of armor.
2) If the Rune added Precision, would it stack with the Precision already on the armor?

ok how this looks is that on the 6 total parts of armor you wear right now, you have 4 minor rune of scaveging equiped to 4 of the respective armor parts. But in reality you have over stacked the amount of runes on the armor parts that apply to your stats.

When you apply a rune to a armor part the second number in this case the /2 is the max amount of runes of that type of rune you can apply to get the bonuses from that specific rune. So instead of having +22 condition damage and 6% magic find you have only the two values listed and have pretty much wasted 2 slots in your armor.
You can mix and match runes to gain specific bonuses as long as they arent the same rune.

Example I have two minor runes of divinity on 2 parts of my armor which is the max needed to give me their stats. Next off I have 4 major runes of divinity and they cap at /4. Now the pair of minor runes of divinity give a total of a 6% stat boost and a 2% crit damage increase, while the major runes give a total overall stat boost of 20 and give a 8% crit boost, equalling a total overall 26% stat boost and a total 10% critical damage boost.

The 4/2 means you have 4 armor pieces with that rune on them. You only need two to get both benefits.

If you only had one piece you would only get the benefit of the condition dmg and no magic find.

Yes if the rune had precision on it it would stack with the armors precision, just like adding gems to armor would add stats to it.

Adding 4 same minor runes to armor pieces does not, unfortunately, give u the 2 bonuses twice.

If u do, it will say (4/2), and 2 of those 4 added runes r useless/pointless.

And imo, most second bonuses with minor runes are not good, and its a better idea to equip 6 different minor runes for only the first bonus of those.

I tend to agree with this, certainly on the lowest level runes. However % duration bonuses (to protection, burn, bleed, etc) can be useful for certain characters and are often the bonus for the 2nd rune of the same kind.

Digging out the topic because I was having the same problem.
I think the overstacking bug may occur when you have the same runes on your sPvP armor and on your actual PvE armor.
Actually I runed me ele with Sup runes of the Elementalist. That’s the default rune on my pvp armor, and it shows 12/6.

EDIT : Although the game only uses only one set of equipment for counting bonuses, the tooltip notification will display numbers as if adding PvE with PvP gear. Similarly, the tooltip will incorrectly add bonuses for both headgear and breathing apparatus.

I bet you are a ranger.

Ranger come with a default 6-piece Rune of the Ranger in PvP (In the Mist). The 7/6 (7 pieces out of the 6 necessary) includes the one you get in the Mist. Unfortunately you can’t use the PvP version in PvE, even though they include them as part of the count.

7/6 is normally caused by putting the same rune into your underwater mask. The tool-tip is glitched. Only 6 will ever count. Mask counts as hat so it will replace your normal hat when under water. 12/6 sounds like the tool-tip is either counting pve armor or jewelry. 6 is still the max that will ever count towards your stats. Tool-tip is a minor glitch don’t let it bother you.

I would recommend not taking advice from 6 months ago. They didn’t even know that minors and majors don’t stack.
