Guild Wars 2

Before I first started playing GW2 I made the decision that I wanted to try Rp’ing so I did some searching and found that TC was the RP server. When I went to make my first avatar however TC was shown to be full so I had to start playing on an alternate server.

Do I have to be on TC to start Rp’ing? We have megaserver now so I guess it doesn’t matter?

Someone told me of a site called gw2roleplaying.com or something like that. Is that still a good place to start?

Do I develop a backstory for my avatar that I want to RP with before contacting people?

Basically if anyone can give me any direction at all I’d be very appreciative.

In general, how much or how little back story you come up with for your character is up to you. I tend to develop very little in the way of back story beyond the basics of general disposition (attitude towards others) and some quick references of what their motivations might be (are they good/bad/indifferent). For me this allows me to develop a character story more fluidly than trying to force a “sqaure peg in a round hole” in terms of other players and their rp. Obviously you want to avoid “god-modding” when at all possible. How many omnipotent queens, kings, and/or demigods can there be after all? Doesn’t hurt to be prepared for certain inevitable situations and have answers ready for common questions, but in my opinion the best “stories” take place on the fly and evolve as the situation warrants.

To find role players, maybe post in the Looking for Guild forum or check the Guild Recruitment forum. Or you can guest to that server and ask about role playing guilds.

is a wonderful tool to bring roleplayers together. You can even post that you would like to start and some people may come and chat you up or explain things if you have questions.
