I found a video on youtube about how to survive in this game since I have been dying a lot, and found out about mouse turning. Problem is, I can’t seem to be able to do it. Any pointers? I have a DYNEX corded mouse by the way if it matters.

I think you mean the way to control your character with the right mouse button.

You need to hold your right mousebutton and then move the mouse to make your character turn.

Best is to practise this technique in town, hit autorun® and try to use the right mousbutton to guide your character.

If you feel you have a decent amount of control then go to a fight.

Just to add to the above posts. I switched my strafe keys to A and S and use D and W for forward back. This plus turning with the mouse by holding righ click down allows for quick and easy strafing, circle staging and the ability to dodge in any direction fluently and easy. Once you start to use mouse to turn, the combat is so much more fun. I remember when I started I only thought yiu could turn with the keyboard which is so so slow.

This also frees up q and e for weapon skills or utilities. Depending on the class. You can easily set up all commands to hit the keys you’d normally use for typing. Very little hand movement. Oh. I also have 2 side buttons on my mouse I use and that basically allows me to use all my weapon skills, and utilities on my keyboard. I have for my thief.
R is weapon skill 1
F is weapon skill 2
G is weapon skill 3
T is weapon skill 4
B is weapon skill 5
Q is steal
E is that thing yiu use to pick up loot and activate stuff
I use my pinky ring and middle finger to move around
V is dodge( I can reach it very easily)
Heal is 5 and utility 1 i 6. ( working in this, very easy for me to tech with index finger still)
Mouse side buttons are utilities 7 and 8 and
Elite is z( its in a Lon cool down usually so I find it easy to hit with my pinky when I need it

I use my mouse middle button for call target( nice for leading people through dungeons to focus fire)

I really suggest fooling around with the setup to make it fit yiur style and comfort. It made a world of difference in my gameplay. Just remember, it’ll take a couple hours to adjust. I remember shadows hitting myself by accident all over the place the first few times

Yes I’ve tryed this and it doesn’t work.

It works just like the left mouse button and is like a camera panning.

Very good. But now to try what I said: to do it while running forward (use r for autorun).

When standing still it changes nothing indeed, but it does change the direction in wich you attack or in wich you run or are going to run.

Ok, I held the right button while running forward and changed the camera rotation speed up and it helped. The only thing is, it seems to mean that there is a ton of movement going on in a battle. Do I leave autorun ON while attacking? That seems like too much movement to focus on one mob at a time.

Try what I said and use the strafe keys aswell. Turn auto run off. Right click should just turn the camera. But when yiur moving. It will focus straight. Using your left and right keys to circle strafe will allow yiu to keep the camera focused on target while also shooting it with auto attack. Use the strafe keys. By default their q and e I use them as a and d

If you hold both mouse buttons down you will move forward, you can sweep the mouse left or right as you do so to turn while running. No need for auto run except to spare your hand tendons from constantly holding down two buttons.

This works for jumping around corners, too, you steer midair with the mouse while holding both buttons down. (Warning: not doable on Clock Tower or anything else that requires constant turning in one direction, as you run out of mouse pad).

In battle it works the same as with autoattack, if you turned with the right mousebuttonyou attack in that direction. this helps a lot when for example dodging, With this trick you can get your attack facing into the right direction pretty quick

There are 3 ways you can do mouse movement/turning:

1) Hold down both mouse buttons. Your character will run in the direction you’re facing and turn as you turn the mouse.

2) Press W or the up arrow to run forwards (and Q/E or right and left) to strafe) and hold down the right mouse button when you want to turn.

3) Turn on auto-run and hold down the right mouse button to turn.

It does take some practice at first but once you get the hang of it mouse turning is a lot easier and faster (which makes everything else easier) than keyboard turning. I’ve been using it since launch and now I don’t even think about it, even when switching between different methods (like going from holding down both buttons to using W).

One issue you may be facing is similar what I had on my laptop. For somereason, when I would hold W and a or d to side strafe, it would make my mosue in effective. I remember it being incredibly hard to use, and very annoying. I ended up going into my settings and changing the mouse settings.

Another tip, is if you have side buttons on your mouse, I would recommend changing dodge to your mouse 3 or mouse 4 click.
