Guild Wars 2

I would like to use GW2 Efficiency, but I’m not really sure how to. Do I need to use my GW2 account user name and password? How do I link my account to the API? I know noob questions but I really have no idea how those things work

1) got to https://account.arena.net/applications
2) click on new key
3) select the necessary permissions and give it a name for your to remember why you created the key
4) click create api key

got to a site asking for the key and just copy and paste the key into the appropriate field

There is nothing else to do since the creation process already link to your account.

You definitely must NOT provide your user name and password to anything besides ArenaNet

Thank you, using my GW2 info off of GW2 didn’t sound very smart to me either but like I said I’ve never used a API before heck this is my first MMO. You help is much appreciated.

GW2Efficiency uses the API but for it to access the info in your account, you have to provide the API key.

I use the API for things like the trading post and gem exchange all the time, which doesn’t need the API key. That’s how sites like GW2TP is able to get near current prices off the exchange.
