I beg for help!!
You should probably check the guardian section for builds or at least ideas on what traits/skills work for particular situations.
First off all for gear. You don’t need a ton of materials. Doing daily’s and a monthly for a full monthwill give you enough karma canisters (if you use a booster) to get enough karma for temple gear (exotic).
You don’t need very special skill to do the daily’s and monthly’s.
Also you can get a few exotic items by doing map completion in Mount maelstrom, crused short, straits of devastation, malchor’s leap, frostgorge sound and fireheart rise. The rewards are maybe not for your profession or the right stats, but selling them on the TP pays you enough money to buy the proper ones.
My advise is to spend the next month on doing those things, with exotic karma gear and atleast one exotic weapon (the one you use most) you should be geared decently enough for all dungeons but Arah explorable mode.
You could also start finishing your personal story and find a group for ara story mode. It is a very easy dungeon that gives you an good impression what to except later on.

Find a guild on your server that does dungeon runs. There is either a large, major guild that does it, or there will be multiple small ones. (Either way there will be some small ones.)
Join the large one if you want to be able to do any dungeon. Join the small one if you want to join a “family”.
Either way, do dungeons to get your gear. This gets you gold AND gear. Make sure you check “/wiki Item Nomenclature”: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Item_nomenclature to figure out what item stats you want. From there, go to /wiki Equipment Acquisition By Stats#Dungeons to figure out what dungeons you can/want to do.
Remember, you only get tokens from explorable mode and you’re free to do any dungeon regardless of what gear you want. AC is good for poor/weak people to get money on a daily basis. If you want to enter more hardcore grinding territory, learn your class and then join CoF Path 1 while wearing Berserker’s Gear and specc’ed properly. You’ll probably need some form of training for this.
If grinding dungeons is not your thing … go harvest herbs in Ascalon. :P
Considering the price of things like Chili Pepper and Dill Sprig you can actually make a decent amount but those are not guaranteed to come out of the herb nodes.
Guardian is also my first serious character – survived with crafting on 25. Yes, 25.
How? Farmed Orichalcum Ores along with Mithril Ores. :p Might not be the fastest, but it’s enough to buy an exotic a day back then.
Also, we can run AC – it’s harder than before, but not impossible. I suggest you watch youtube videos about some dungeon runs or find a group/guild you’re comfortable with.
You do not -need- exotic gear for dungeoning. I got by on rares and masterworks (which are very cheap) as an ele for quite some time, and by “got by” I mean I soloed group content and outsurvived players who wore full exotics. It helps, yes, and you’ll want to shoot for it if you’re planning on dungeoning regularly, but your build, individual skill, and ability to coordinate with the rest of your party matter a lot more.
Also on the topic of group coordination, many dungeons are hard when you run them with PUGs because many PUGs cannot coordinate their way out of a pocket folder. If you have a good static group of people who know each other, or run with guildmates who also know each other, the dungeon will be drastically easier. Know also that dungeons get a lot easier as you run them more, and that there is no shame in making mistakes as long as you learn from them (contrary to what the elitists say). Don’t be afraid.
About a guild… take a look at https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/guilds/recruitment or keep an eye on map chat in Lion’s Arch. I will say that there are good and bad guilds out there, and it can be hard to tell the difference from a recruitment post. It may take several tries to find one of the good ones. Be polite and respectful, and if people berate you for being new, or insist on you running a certain build, or ignore you, drop them and move on. Don’t get disheartened.

I just wanted to add that I dont feel that crafting is really meant for gearing yourself up.
It seems to be designed more to make things to go on the TP. I also think it might be best (for most) to ignore crafting until you are comfortable with the game.
Gear is attained in many ways like the TP, dungeons, and WvW.
Using a site like www.gw2buildcraft.com can also be very useful for working things out without actually investing money into them.

NEVER FORGET
You don’t need crafting or gold to get exotic gear (which is the best you can get for most things, and very close to the best in all slots).
As mercury ranique said you can buy exotic armor from the temples in Orr for karma. If you haven’t got enough already you can do daily and monthly achievements to save up karma. It doesn’t really take much.
Crafting is a good way to get alternative skins or customise your stats, but it’s not required and certainly not the best way to get your first set of exotic gear.
But more important than gear is getting a good build and knowing how to use it. For that I’d recommend you look at the Guardian section of the forum and either find a build site online or spend some time reading the wiki articles on the guardian, their traits, skills etc. to get some ideas if you want to make your own.
“Life’s a journey, not a destination.”
What gear did you buy? What I mean is, what stat combinations to you already have? (Beserker, Knight, Cleric, Carrion?)
You should probably decide what you want to do now that you are a level 80. Do you prefer PvE content or PvP. Have you tried WvW? You mention that dungeons are super hard (and they can be) but do they interest you?
Edit: This is also my first MMO. Don’t feel bad about being lost, there’s a lot of information that I didn’t know, even at level 80. So I made many poor choices.
Regarding Guilds, what server are you on?

As other people have said, go for the Temples. Costs a ton of karma, but you get a good set of armor for much cheaper than you’d get elsewhere. You can look on Dulfy’s website to get the breakdown on each piece of armor, and figure out the combo that works best for you.
Also, you may want to look at resetting your traits. Only costs like 12silver, and I found that some of my traits I’d had from earlier weren’t really doing all that much for me at 80.
As for joining guilds, I’d recommend going to http://gw2recruiting.com/
You can submit a profile with your character and info, and then list exactly what you’re looking for.
I’d also recommend just reading other guardian builds. I don’t find it much fun to copy/paste a build, but looking at what other people are doing can give you a better idea of how to play your class.
