I been playing GW1 since launch. In GW1 I loved Mesmer and Ranger.

I loved the Domination Mesmer, how you control and Interupt.

I loved Ranger and his versatility. I could run, Barrage AoE Barrage solo farm, interput, pressure etc.

In GW2, I hate Mesmer and its horrible Phantasm Mechanic (Yay I put 3 Phantasms up and kite around). In PvE they are horrible to level.

In GW2, I hate Ranger because I am FORCED to use pets. Pets are horrible no matter the game, the only time I used pet in GW1 is for body blocking as Barrage/P Ranger and Bunny Thumper PvP.

I cannot choose class in GW2 due to my favourite class have been ruined by pets with horrible AI.

I was thinking of making a dual pistol Thief, but I always loved Rangers in games without pets.

Well, you can always dismiss your pet and run without one? To each his/her own. I personally loved playing my ranger with his pet, but you can run one without a pet if it really ruins the profession for you.

well what do you like?

theif is ‘kinda’ a ranger without a pet. It’s still uses a bow.

Well Pets are 40% of Ranger DPS. My problem is how unresponsive and dumb pets are.

Ranger Pet in a nutshell:

Aggro while Gathering
Using F2 when you don’t want to

Worst Offense: Aggroing mobs while in dungeons causing wipes

that’s odd, I have found the opposite.

Aggro while Gathering: my pet has only aggroed in that situation when an enemy actually comes up and attacks. I have safely gathered while my pet is out without it aggroing, and if anything it is helpful cause it can defend you while you are vulnerable.

F2: I honestly haven’t noticed and don’t really care. I don’t manually do it anyway

Aggroing mobs: okay, I admit I haven’t done it in dungeons, but I have in some of the claustrophobic caverns and have found they only aggro when either the enemy aggros or I auto-attack a bit too much and it hits another target.

On the mesmer thing, I wasn’t big on them in GW1, so played it to not spoil during the BWEs… and fell in love with it here, it is so much fun. I guess some professions don’t suit some people.

I mean choose class.

Does RANGED Thief work? Dual Pistol?

I tried shortbow on thief. Its awesome AoE damage and condtions. Gas Bomb + Cluster Bomb !

I was having a hard time with mine and now I absolutely love it after watching these videos.
